''This should go up as the clock goes back an hour and more electricity gets used.''
Not relevant to National Grid how much electricity an end consumer of electricity uses. The end user pays a fixed tariff, but the suppliers will be charged more with increased demand. Having said that winters happen every year, so should not be a factor in income generation over the course of a calendar year, compared with any other year. The benefit for NG in the indexing of the tariffs charged over the regulatory cycle.
