Sorry, I did not get a chance to reply last night. But I think the phrase you are looking for, in connection with India " not-spots ", is " ... call drops .... "

I have attached a couple of reports, 3 years apart, that show the same problem. The problem, basically, is the inadequate number of telephone/transmission towers. And it has been going on for some years.

The problem that the telephone companies have, not necessarily EESL, is:-

1) They do not want to pay for the number of masts required.

2) General planning approval for the towers, from local or state government, is proving difficult to get.

On a more relevant point, I feel, that someone made in a report which I have mentioned before, was:-

" How many call-drops do we get. The reason that's happening, is networks were never designed for data. They were designed for voice."

An interesting problem. But not an unsolvable one.

I note that an interesting paragraph from a recent report about the projects in Varanasi and Lucknow, may give an indication of the way some of the projects may progress, in the future.

From the report, published on June 6th, 2018:-

" As of now, the plan is to connect the entire city ( Varanasi ), but during the implementation stage, things may be tweaked, as per the requirements of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd., " another official said on condition of anonymity.

So we wait to see what exactly the " ...... things may be tweaked ....... " actually means.

I wonder if the individual states are beginning to express their individual opinions, being as it is their business and their customers, that will be affected.

Also, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd, is re-structured into 7 separate zones, one of which is PVVNL, who CyanConnode did a successful project for, during 2015/2016, with Enzen Global, in Uttar Pradesh.

Whether or not the EESL purchased smart meters, in Varanasi in particular, are compliant, I would think will depend on the 100 smart meters installed for a Proof of Concept verification.

I would think, that is part of the compliance process.

Much like/on similar lines, to the SAT ( SAT 1, SAT 2, SAT 3 ) process that CyanConnode have introduced, over the last 12/18 months, in Iran, Bangladesh and possibly Ukraine. Which I suggested would be a step forward, for other contracts, which would make them more transparent, as with the way the contracts are documented for the ISGF pilots, on a monthly basis.

As I said yesterday, " ...... an interesting document."

Thank you for the information concerning SAAS. It is appreciated.

The third paragraph down, states:- " Utilities are not considered to be " early adopters " of technology."

Especially the UK, when you compare it with, say, the Nordic countries of Europe. You have to go to developing countries who's aspirations are different, to those of some developed countries/economies.

One of the challenges being, getting/offsetting the CAPEX/OPEX costs/budgets, so that they balance out more efficiently and effectively, for the utility and their customers. Which I think was the point that John Cronin was trying to make, in the IoTnow report, a passage of which I posted at 21:12 yesterday.

There were some figures provided in a CyanConnode presentation, concerning CAPEX and OPEX spend, towards the end of last year, about the difference between RF and GPRS, which may be of interest. But I am sure you have seen them before.

The Smart Grid/IoT is developing and evolving, as we know. Different clients, have different needs and aspirations. Providing the right products and solutions for these clients, that will/can adapt to individual client needs, is essential.

A passage from the IoTnow report, which may through up an interesting question:-

" CyanConnode also sees interest from communication infrastructure providers, to offer smart metering as a service. Some IoT applications cannot start because the CAPEX/OPEX costs of installing and running a dedicated communications infrastructure, are too high. By running these IoT applications alongside smart metering, on the same communication network, everyone's costs are reduced. For true multi-application solutions to succeed, more standardisation work is required on security and network management."

The interesting question is, will CyanConnodes experience and experiences, with/through Telefonica and the UK smart meter implementation generally, be of benefit to the communication infrastructure providers, in India? Or for that matter, communications infrastructure providers globally, generally?

I agree, on Iran and other opportunities that may be available to the Company/Group. A snippet of information on Iran, can be found in the July 2018, Trading Update:-

" The contracts in Iran and Bangladesh, are still active and are at different stages of the SAT process. The Company continues to work through these key processes, with its key partners." So, like yourself and others, I am optimistic that the Iran contract, will eventually provide revenue for the Company.

Despite the " .... international politics .......... " you refer too.

Another passage from the July 2018, Trading Update, reads:-

" In competitive evaluations, CyanConnodes technology, out-performs and works " first time " against some large and well established brands. Across ROW ( Rest of World ) the Company's brand is becoming synonymous with reliability, delivery and value for money."

Thank you for the information. Very interesting. Have not read all the report and probably won't manage to digest it all. But trying to get a handle on when it was first published. Which I think will be prior to 2011.

Italy - Page 7:-

" Roll-out started in 2008 and by the end of 2011, 95% of 36 million customers, WILL have received electronic meters."

So I would think the report was possibly published prior to/during the 2011 date. There may be other date references contained within the report, that may also indicate a possible publication date. I only picked out one.

I remember reading a report, concerning the Reliance/Connode/intel consortium, prior to the acquisition, which may have been the same report that 2cv mentioned. On mentioning the report, because of what I perceived as the relevance to any competition between Tata Power, Mumbai and Reliance Energy, in Mumbai, at one of the Company Events, around that time, I got the feeling that Cyan were aware of both Companies.

Which is what you would expect, to some extent.

We know what happened with Connode. We now have to wait, to see/hear from the Company, concerning any developments involving Reliance Energy.

Hello Multi,

I did read somewhere, where it was anticipated that the acquisition of Larsen&Toubro, by Schneider Electric, could take between a few months, but could take up to a year, to get things finalized.

And as Schneider Electric has had an arm of their business, in India, for few years now ( Schneider Electric India ) it is encouraging that they find the Larsen&Toubro ( Electrical and Automation ) business/contracts/contacts of interest to their Group of Companies.

Interesting times ahead.

An excellent way to start a Monday morning, or any other morning, come to that. A small order, for what seems to be a planned/scheduled delivery, to one of Larsen&Toubro's many Clients, that seems to be happening more frequently, recently.

Momentum could well be building, as the RNS indicates.

And on another note, that maybe/is related. The acquisition of L&T ( Electrical & Automation ) by Schneider Electric, does not seem to have slowed this momentum down, does it?

Which may give a good indication for the future.
