I gather, as you are posting under the " CyanConnode continues an active roll ...... " heading, that you are referring to the same report as me? But I also see that " ....... the Chairman informed members that the Government of India is now committed to rollout 250 million smart pre-payment meters in the next 3 years " with " At a recent Smart Grid Division meeting ...... " added at the beginning of the quote, because I did not include that originally, which is from the report I posted at 17:13 today, is not the same as the quote that you posted at 10:24 today, which was " During the latest meeting, the Chairman informed the members that the Government of India is now committed to rollout 250 million smart pre-payment meters in the next 3 years."

But if you had access to the report, why not just post it, in its entirety?

Or maybe you only wanted to give your version and opinion of the event, rather than post the report so readers could decide for themselves.

Personally, I think that would have been the better option.

So maybe a little more than " ....... 10 minutes of air ..... , " I would suggest.

A recent document from Genus Power, briefly mentions the Standard Bidding Document, last reported in the Business Standard, on 22nd September, 2020.

From the Genus Power document:-

" The proposed Electricity Bill, 2020, may also usher in major distribution reforms. Government is in the process of drafting Standard Bidding Document ( SBD ) and outlining the terms and conditions for deployment of smart meters, across India. Pre-qualification criteria is likely to become more stringent, to facilitate the entry of only quality companies , having a robust execution track record.

" The demand is now likely to increasingly shift from conventional meters to smart meters. We are confident of sustaining our margins, going ahead, as product mix changes in favor of smart meters. Also, as proportion of smart meters in the overall pie of meters increases, the margin profile of our business, will gradually improve."

If you re-read my post at 12:46 today, I did not mention anything about a 100m figure. So your post at 13:15, which indicates " As LTI points out, he could quite easily have 100m, but people would think he was a loon " is not what I said and a little mis-leading.

I seem to remember Anil mentioning a target figure of between 10/12 million meters about 15 months ago, during a presentation. John Cronin mentions a target figure of approximately 20 million over the next 5 years, during the Interim Results, 2019 presentation. During the Investor Meet Presentation, John Cronin mentions a potential 50 million meters, over the next 10 years.

John also mentions where this additional market penetration opportunity, may come from. That being the Mesh/Cellular market opportunity. Other areas of market penetration may come via the other " New Range of Omnimesh Products " mentioned in the Interim Report Results, 31st March, 2020. Which included:-

- Omnimesh Long-Range RF Network Interface Card.
- Omnimesh Metering of District Heating.
- Omnimesh Dual Sim Cellular Network Interface Card.
- Omnimesh Integrated Gateway with Cellular and RF Mesh Capability. ( Already mentioned.)

Plus the confirmation that water and gas opportunities are in addition to the 250 million overall target of the Indian Government for electricity opportunities. Plus any addition for the recently announced interest by CyanConnode in the EV charging market.

So with the development of the new range of Omnimesh products/solutions and CyanConnode now looking at a possible 10 year time frame, with a considerable and growing Customer and Partner portfolio, you can maybe see some justification in the numbers mentioned.

But all in my opinion, of course.

This tender seems to have been recently extended to September 21st, 2020. ( Thanks Multi/tightfist.)

As the Bid Validation Duration, seems to be a maximum of 240 days, this may be a long process until the tender/contract winners, are finalized.

Although you would think that progress would/could be made to deliver the tender results on a shorter time-frame.
