I read that England only cases today were over 35,000 so I think the fear is the acceleration. I'm not sure whether those who managed to scramble out of the UK will be forced to self isolate for three weeks where they are. I think that may be more sensible than forcing a return home, as a friend told me is happening in The Netherlands (and those that travelled get to pay for the immediate return journey themselves).

That was my understand as well. However, some of the grant money went to the delivery mechanism, so I'm looking forward to news.

I missed all of that, thank goodness. And I have little time to catch up. I hope you are feeling better nonetheless. I'm a little disappointed to not have spotted anything about Scancell's candidate in the press over the weekend. I would have thought it would make a "there is hope" story, but the closing of the Eurotunnel for 48 hours is more immediate and therefore more "dramatic".

After a virtual brunch and then speaking with a friend, I've just finished packing presents into boxes to take to the post office tomorrow (yes, know it is doubtful that they will arrive in time, but the border is shut). And of course having sealed the boxes, I've remembered at least half a dozen things which I should have included.

This is why Scancell's approach is so important. Thank you for posting it.

I assume you mean Clinical Trials, though I quite like the picture which came to my mind of leaving some of their competitors chocking on dust as the tried to catch up on the trail Scancell is blazing. (big smiley face)

Apologies AB, the arbitrage programme I have gets real time updates from exchanges around the world. I can specify coins and exchanges to check or select all. Then I can specify a minimum differential %. As for trading, it doesn't have API functions to do the trading. You may already know that you are investing/trading from fiat, each platform charges commissions, some significantly higher than others.

AB, I have an arbitrage program which scans exchanges around the globe for opportunities. I'm hoping to find something for spreadbetting platforms for forex because of the tax efficient nature.

Like crypto exchanges, I am assuming that different platforms to vary on commissions, point spreads, leverage, etc for margin trading.

Good stuff indeed. Let me know how you get on. I'm particularly interested in arbitrage opportunities across different spread betting platforms.

Ray, The GDP/US$ may be very interesting as well. It's recent inexplicable rise feels like a last hurrah, at least to me.

Off topic: in terms of the scale of the new CV19 infection rate, I think it makes sense to vaccinate those who may need treatment. That way, should they need to go to hospital for any reason (picking up hearing aid batteries, etc), it is less likely they will catch this strain.

RR, thanks for relating your experience. I share grave concerns as you do about targeting the most vulnerable. I had also heard some surgeries were no participating in the vaccine program because they lacked facilities to store the vaccine.

It strikes me that we may need drive through jabbing (only 1/2 in jest). Unless they are including time in the surgery post shot for reactions, perhaps this might be a more effective use of everyone's time. End of parking and logistics problems, lowering prevalence of possible CV19 contact inadvertently, etc. I hope you FIL cam out on top.

I don't know much about the Cambridge project which was awarded £15M at the same time Scancell got theirs. I don't think the Government is going to cut off the flow of any money spinner/economy saver.

I'm merely disappointed that Scancell were not on the Pre-Clinical portion of The Government's Investment presentation because by takeaway from Bingham was that the investments would be to make the UK a global CEO (centre of excellence) for vaccine research and manufacturing, rather than as indicated by the list to invest mostly outside the UK.
