Lots of bullish activity reported by Ranging Bull sources for Atmel ahead of results & Nexus 7 has nil affect on sp so far. Good!

... seems no Atmel 'bits' have been discovered in the new Nexus 7 in Ifixit's teardown. I was thinking this would be a bit to soon for Xsense to be incorporated but disappointing all the same, also thought maybe the Atmel hub &/or controller at least. Disappointing news for Atmtel as they had Asus preferred partner status. Atmel's sp might take quite a hit over the next few days.

The news from the medical side whilst being good & re-iterates Carclo's defensive qualities is actually nothing new. Although that latest info contained a a couple extra bits the main thrust about doubling the capacity was already known. They are clearing land on the site & plan the construction will be completed in October. Also understand that "doubling capacity" doesn't mean much on its own, they will buy the moulding machines only when the the orders are sufficient to justify the expenditure. Volume capacity & volume production are entirely different things. CAR have said they can manufacture in access of 3 million square meters of film. That's capacity. Now they have to mass produce it in saleable quality. Thats volume production. Xsense is the prime example. All they are doing at the moment is building the building & providing the space for the moulding machines. All very promising & they obviously have their expectations of what is likely to come their way but its actual orders & production that counts, that is what will drive the S.P. & thats why we need good news next week.

Hi commercia, i picked up on the speculation that the new Nexus 7 might contain Xsense from a contact of mine, I've also noticed the same sort of thing on an Atmel board... It is only speculation, nothing official, as you say that will have to wait till next week, nothing will be given out before then because of commercial confidentiality even if its true. There is also speculation from a guy involved in chip manufacture at the Colarado site that Atmel have been hiring in outside operators for the Xsense production lines for the last couple of months & that mass production was started sometime ago. You can put 2 &.2 together but personally doubt that Xsense would have been incorporated in anything quite so soon. Things don't normally get on to the shop shelves THAT quick! Asus announced this evening that a new generation Nexus 7 with the worlds highest ever resolution will be available in the states from July 30th & across Europe in "the coming weeks". There is speculation in the states that it MAY have an Xsense touch screen.

Yup, seems like that's gonna be what happens. The conference call to discuss the 2Q results is scheduled for the 31/7 at 2pm PT, about 8pm over here.

It's all hear say of course but a contact who works on Atmels chip making side of things in Colarado... reports that outside operators have been brought in & some staff have expressed dissapointment that that they didn't get internal transfers to the Xsense production lines.

There are new postings on yahoo finance Atmel discussion board that Atmel have recently been hiring large numbers of operators at the Colorado Xsense production facility, leading to speculation that Xsense has entered mass production. :)

UNXL, unlike CAR, supposedly use an additive embossing technique to create their version of copper mesh. If it ever gets off the ground then it would be in competition to Xsense along with other alternatives to copper mesh & other copper mesh manufacturers. Atmel consider Fuji to be their main competition They use the silver technique which has been around for a quite a while... they are in the process of doubling their production capacity. This is just another article in the battle between the the longs & shorts of UNXL. There will be more of them. One of the shorts will soon be bringing out an article about UNXL's supposedly dodgy accounting. No-one knows what the truth is. It's neither bad news or good news... It's fun to read but really totally irrelevant to the succsess of Xsense.

SA reports that Lazard have given Atmel a 'buy' upgrade. (ATML + 1.4%)

Atmel's Q2 earnings call date is 30/7 not 1/8. 2 other dates & venues with Atmel involved to look out for are 13/8 for Pacific Crest Securities Global Tecnology Leadership Forum (Colorado) 15/8 for the Camaccord Genuity Growth Conference (Boston) Both will be webcasts.

The next important scheduled date is Atmel's 2Q earnings call which is due 1/8. Atmel's financial year runs from Jan.to Dec. (which shouldn't be forgotten when comparing ATML/CAR financial forecasts & projections) Atmel last said they will ramp up during July. If they get one or both the new plating lines fully validated before 1/8.hopefully they will announce it immediately, but thats not a given, they may not. They know that's what everyone is waiting for & that everything depends on it. Carclos sp is not going to improve & may subside even more until all the promises & expectations are turned into reality.

It's just a 'vested interest' article amongst many others by the UNXL shorts on SA.... the UNXL sp dropped for a time but once the longs got their 'vested interest' comments on the article published... the sp soon recovered. The only thing that's vitally important for ATML/CAR is that THEY achieve what THEY keep promising! If there are any more delays in getting fully validated... we could be reading about action being taken because of THIER false claims & misguidence!

UNXL announce completion of build out in Texas http://bit.ly/190wWzs They have also announced that their employee numbers have increased (27to 32) I would just like to emphasise that all this means is that they have built another printing process for Uniboss, it has nothing to do with validation. In fact 50 samples they sent out from their pilot line have been returned ...rumour has it that is because of downstream design problems but at the moment virtually every thing about this supposed competitor is based on rumour. The only thing for sure is that they have an agreement with Kodak to build another production line & that equipment is expected to be delivered this summer. Well done Moyon, pretty much says it as it is. Car's projection for this financial yearof £8m to £12m was based on Atmel's projection $15m to $25m. I'm not clear if Car are including that unwinding of the 6.4m in their figures. On the face of it they are NOT because of that stated projection on Amtel's 15 to 18m. I read it that, that figure (Amtel's) is new money that Atmel expect to receive. The forecast for 2013/14 was £12m to £18m based on ATME's 15 to 25m. With futher years classed as 'substantial' Everything still DOES rely on full validation of course! Given that Atmel have rather a lot of egg on their face due to failure to meet all the other publicly announced validation targets I would of thought they would be quite eager to announce 'validation achieved' the minute they got there, but maybe not. Atmel's 2Q earnings call on 1/8 seems to be shaping up as a very defining moment as they are promising ramp up during July. As far as Carclo PLC is concerned as a whole they are doing okay. I think CIT has got a future whatever happens in the touch screen space simply because they have proved they can produce it in limited quantaties from their pilot line. The medical diagnostic & LED spaces they occupy will benefit from CIT but in any case those spaces provide some reasonable defensive qualities for investors. The fact that they even pay a dividend let alone increased it at the current time shouldn't be underestimated. I do feel that is a pretty big statement & commitment to make. It says a lot about the quality & thinking of the management team regarding their share holders. As for UNXL.... I think anybody would be grateful to have a near competitor like that lot! But ANY competitor shouldn't be much of a worry simply because of the size of market that seems to be gagging for it. As I understand it in the yields stakes their are 2 main areas... producing the film with the ink lines drawn & secondly the copper plating process. The yields the of the 1st need to be sufficiently high enough to take it to the plating stage. It does also seem to me that that they have not just been concentrating on getting to that point but have been on a hellofva learning curve & actually been imporoving it as they have gone along from the orional spec. I think that is probably the main reason for the delays. IF that is correct then all power to their elbow. They do mention that they have been investing in that direction & think thay have a product that is now vastly different to the original specs. Going back to those revenue forecasts... BOTH CAR & ATML have reputations for being meggs conservative & also never forget that come results time CEO's like nothing better that to state that they have beaten the forecasts out of sight!

Yes, I noticed that one too! Probably a day trader...buy a million one day, sell a million the next. A million times 3 or 4 pennies make for a nice tidy profit!

Ruffler investment management company purchased 425,000 shares 14/6/13 on behalf of a client. Taking holding to 9 million shares. I wouldn't say no to a holding that size!
