I think you will end up selling them all just before they go through the roof, or maxing out just before they go through the floor! ... never been able to bring my self to touch RBS, govt are "unwilling investors", accounts, regulatory and business situation all too difficult for me to understand. Still got half my portfolio in this, dissappointing to see the market price these so pessimistically. I think it best to wait until the whole things played out regardless. At least these should beat a deposit account!! Other opportunities while they may look similar / better are probably more risky. This is still available on a discount to cash basis, which seems fantastic.... Probably another 6-12 month wait required!!!

May be they've run out of cash!

Just looked at old RNS's: Weiss bought approx 13 million shares after the AGM -- My guess is they dont want control, but stopped at 25% because (I think) that gives them the power to block special resolutions, which might come in handy.... Bit disappointed not to see the shares fly after my 1 pm top up! ... Off Topic:: Anyone following the HMV slide... I think the bottom could be a while off yet.

Do you know if funds such as this one would do things like rigts issues, open offers or placings, if they felt the need. It would seem like a fairly easy way of getting NAV back in the share price as it would provide covenant head room. I know Matrix is disposing of the "Tower", but an RI might be a better alternative?

Thanks for explaining "open ended" Leon, that was new to me. £1.50 short term seems plausible (IMO), with reservations about low trading volumes, covenant issues, other opportunities and property markets!... not prepared to buy them back for 50% more than I sold them for, so think I'll just watch. Plus I wonder if appointed managers and advisors can be relied upon to care about the long term survival of MERE in quite the same way as employees would.

On my share certificate these were described as part preference shares, never heard of such things before, im guessing its something to do with this entity being a fund which has no employees and is managed by managers and their consultants who charge fees, as opposed to a company with employees getting wages etc..., not got a clue really just guessing.

Sold these a month or two back at a small loss because i did not understand their lending covenants, now theyve been revised, i still dont understand them. From memory NAV is approx £3 per share, but how risky is this stock?
