RE: Surely a take over !!21 Jul 2021 11:19
In a t/o situation, the sp is only of marginal interest. It is likely to indicate a minimum price "on the day". If it is considered too high, the buyer will back off, wait for investor confidence to wain and the sp drops - or maybe make their low offer public (leak) which will undermine confidence and start a drop. However, the big quedtion is "how long will it take to get our money back" (i.e. break-even date). Will we have a monopoly? How far behind is the competition, with something similar? Does this mean we will have to dump any of our existing range to make room for it? How confident is our technical assessment? (best & worst case). Has our DD highlighted any unkowns (black holes). Finally, will it be worthwhile or of marginal benefit to slot this in to our business? (And let's put a value on it). The negotiations then start with Sareum who will have their own valuation and will be aware of investor expectations, and maybe how to manage those expectations. These are unique products, so it's not like buying a car.
