RE: decline24 Aug 2021 12:03
There is always a reason. In this case, following the RNS which emphasized a "steady as she goes" message, meaning quite a few things are in the pipeline for later this year or early next. as most are aware, MMs make money on buys and sells (both ends) - but make nothing if the market hibernates for 3 months. So their solution is to stir things up, first attempt panic selling, then panic buying (fomo). They can only fool some of the people some of the time, but there are enough unresearched riding the waves to put food on the table, together with a bottle of claret. You would think they would occasionally send out a tweet to thank those who have donated their shirts to help facilitate early retirement - but no, once burned they are less likely to come back to play the markets, so of no further use. The sp will probably start to rise again within a day or two - maybe 2-5% per day for a couple of weeks, but I believe we will get something positive, if not spectacular in September which will put Sar/Q4 into focus for many II's. Let us hope that it will take us beyond 10p, and keep us there until the various backroom deals start to be announced rather than just hinted.
