Fair enough Lazarus, I didn't think of that. I've been in a couple of oilies over the years who have got into ill-advised JV's with dodgy partners, never worked out well. Here's hoping for better things from SRRA going forward.

Sounds about right sidi, no complaints from me if it is around that level. 4 x 2p would be very nice, and I'm sure it will come in time, not yet though as you say. Unless there's a major uprate on the NAV, which looks unlikely. Still feels like this is under the radar for a lot of investors, hope it stays that way for now.

Thanks Stoney. I wasn't suggesting we would get the £500k back, it was a risk taken at the time as Utah confirmed. It just seems odd that ICR/CPF can have discussions with SRRA and agree a new way forward when we have no say in it, even though we invested half a million quid. I'm trying to think of another scenario in life where it might play out this way, and I can't think of any. Perhaps SAR should have done a bit more due diligence wrt a failure/inactivity on the part of SRRA before signing up to the original agreement?

Stoney, accepting SAR received the £300k unspent back, it still leaves us with £500k skin in the game (the "spent" portion). Surely this should entitle us to a seat at the table when these discussions are taking place? Otherwise, how can SAR management ensure there's a chance of a return on that investment?

It'll be good to get confirmation of the NAV after the effective doubling of assets here. Hopefully just a formality. Fantastic opportunities available to GSF currently with the international drive to reduce carbon fuels drastically. With the UK hosting the UN Climate Change Conference in November there are bound to be new commitments in the offing which will highlight the role of battery storage in balancing electricity generation with demand. Boris & co could learn a lot from the approach taken by the Irish government.

Early investor here. The theory is to buy cargo vessels whilst they remain relatively inexpensive, then work them as hard as you can as the world (hopefully...) emerges from the pandemic. The reward will hopefully be a decent dividend (target 7%), but this is a fairly high-risk share for me until they can demonstrate delivering on the agenda. K

stt1 I'm sure you're aware that the end of the stamp duty holiday will have a much bigger impact on house resale volume than new home sales. It is an issue though, as I've acknowledged.
Your December house-price link contains lots of caveats including the most recent data not being available. It's certainly something to keep an eye on, but longer-term price movements tend to give a more accurate basis for forecasting as they take out short-term volatility.
There will always be dire warnings about impending house-price collapses. Savilles were until recently forecasting a flat 2021 for prices in London, now they say they will rise by 4%. A forecast is just that, and subject to as-yet unknown events.
Your January link referencing a drop of 0.8% is for Scotland, not the UK as a whole. Unionists selling up & moving to England ahead of independence perhaps?

Ah, ok potnak. I can't really think of a time when I wouldn't hold some SAR (unless you ******* sell me out of course lol). I've been switching many of my investments into steady dividend payers, but I'm a big fan of Terry Smith (Fundsmith, Smithson etc.) and he believes strongly that investors who need to draw money from their investments should just sell some of their holding, not chase dividends. It's been very successful for him so far, and therefore for me too, so I'm now taking a more blended approach to trusts, funds and shares. And that includes SAR.

Yes I know what the chances of failure are, that's why I've 100% derisked my investment here. As you've said before, there have been plenty of opportunities to trade this share along the way and I'll happily admit I got very lucky. Don't tell Baserite though or I'll be on the naughty step again.

Yes yes I see that potnak, utah, I'm playing devil's advocate a bit here because you guys often have a slightly different viewpoint and I want to test it against my stance. I find these kind of debates healthy and useful. I just don't see how we can find fair value without playing the long game. I'm 62 and have probably made some of the life changes that you're contemplating but it doesn't mean I want to give up on some of my more interesting investments, like this one.

Of course I'm not kidding!! Who would sell the goose before it started laying it's golden eggs? There are plenty of other options (partnering is the obvious one) when it comes to the time when serious money is needed. Why give it away to the shareholders of GSK or AZ or whoever when SAR could become a really boring cash machine paying out £millions in royalty payments to it's owners?

Am I the only one who finds all this talk of takeovers depressing? After all this time I want to find out what the science here is really worth. We've had plenty of speculation (28p, £1, £10...) but the only way we're going to find out is hold tight & see it through. Let's have this conversation again in 5 years time, see where the SP is by then. Or just offer me £1 & I'm gone anyway lol.
