I wish LSE would do more to moderate thugs & bullies on here though, it's like a playground at times. You can end up talking to yourself if you're not careful, not many regulars on here. I'm in here for the long haul though, as you say 7p divi and revenue stream backed by the Irish government for at least 5 years. What's not to like?

wip why would anyone transfer the money out of an ISA into their bank account? You can hold cash in an ISA, even a stocks & shares ISA if you can show that you intend to reinvest it. Once transferred out of the ISA you can never get the benefits of tax free (including capital gains tax free) back again. So it very much depends on whether you want to spend the money (to buy a house, say, or a yacht lol), in which case transfer what you need to your bank when you need it) or if you want an income from it, in which case leave it where it is and use the proceeds of the sale of SAR shares to fund income-paying shares, trusts & funds within your ISA wrapper. This is NOT financial advice, you asked what we would do but everyone's circumstances are different. The suggestion of taking financial advice is therefore essential I would say. I had an initial 1 hour consultation FOC from my broker, it was excellent.

Thanks colbaltblue. I was aware of the trans perineal option but hadn't thought about it in the context of sepsis, I'm very grateful for the heads-up. A friend of mine recently died after having been treated for prostate cancer at my local hospital, c.o.d. was sepsis. That's really freaking me out a bit now, thinking about the timeline etc. I know we haven't always seen eye to eye on stuff (I had to unfilter you before replying to your post) but I'm genuinely extremely grateful to you for taking the time & trouble to post this message.

sog thanks for the info, I'll look into that. Appreciate there can be many reasons for a high PSA result. I had an MRI scan last week, expecting to be going for biopsies after seeing the consultant tomorrow.

Oh gosh, that's really kind of you all, thank you! It's the dreaded prostate, curse of men over 50. My PSA has been rising slowly since my first abnormal result at my "well man" check at age 50. Thinking about it, I invested in SAR thinking they would find a cure for it by the time I needed treatment. 10 years later and basically nothing has changed! Thanks again, much appreciated. K

Utah, we both have similar aims by the sound of it! I'm trying to build a sustainable portfolio of reliable dividend payers for myself and my wife to enjoy a comfortable retirement. However, I've also been able to invest in more speculative shares over the years (principally this and PXS) which I have been able to derisk, reinvesting my original stake and a bit of profit. All my investments are held within ISA's and a SIPP, and I very much hope to be able to pass this on to my children if I'm fortunate enough not to need long-term care. When things look really bad and everyone is doom and gloom, that's when I buy. When we have a run like we're having in SAR right now, that's when I sell. There's no shame in taking a profit. Despite how it looks now and all the positivity, we're only ever one RNS away from it all coming crashing down, as I know to my cost with other shares.
On a linked matter, I've got a hospital appointment tomorrow and I'm producing a "digital will" this morning in case of bad news. That helps concentrate the mind on what's really important in life. Whatever you decide to do, I hope it works out well for you and your family. We've waited long enough for this day to arrive after all. K

Utah, I've ridden other horses and been thrown off every time. Off the top of my head, CTT, HAWK, TRP, VOG, there are others. So this time I'm fully derisked, and it's a great feeling I can tell you.

Private equity? Wow, that's a different angle, I hadn't considered that! Mind you, they'd have to buy the shares off us, and the institutions, who have bought in here on the basis of a reliable dividend. And £6bn is a big chunk of money, even for the highest HNWI's. So I don't see that happening any time soon. I would think it more likely a big American company with links to the trade stateside, or an activist investor, would come in & shake things up. There's definitely more value here than is currently reflected in the SP, so who knows what might happen?

"(Sharecast News) - Liberum struck an upbeat note on the UK housebuilding sector on Monday, upgrading its stance on shares of Taylor Wimpey as it said recent updates confirmed trading has strengthened in April/May and house price inflation has spread to the new build sector.
The broker upgraded Taylor Wimpey to 'buy' from 'hold' and lifted the price target to 185p from 180p to reflect the improved outlook.

"It is the sector performance laggard (down 24% since February 2020 against the sector down 13%) and offers a compelling valuation on 1.46x 2021E book given its returns and distributions," Liberum said. "For 2021E we estimate a return on equity (post-tax) of 14% and a 5% dividend yield (rising to 8% in 2022E)."

The shares appear to have underperformed as a result of fire safety cost concerns, which the broker reckons are overdone. "Its £40m cladding provision taken in 2020 and the £125m fire safety provision taken in 2021 equates to around 4% of its 2020 net assets," it noted."

"Back in London, housebuilders gained as Halifax reported a 9.5% annual surge in UK home prices in May. The average UK property price now stands at GBP261,743, a new record high.

"Heading into the traditionally busy summer period, market activity continues to be boosted by the government's stamp duty holiday, with prospective buyers racing to complete purchases in time to benefit from the maximum tax break ahead of June's deadline, after which there will be a phased return to full rates," said Russell Galley, managing director at Halifax.

Taylor Wimpey rose 2.3%, Persimmon 2.2% and Barratt Developments 2.1%."
