Gerry yes, as I speculated on Tuesday it's just a waiting game now to see what we are allocated if we applied for more than our entitlement. Hoping they will take pity on us lowly PI's & meet our requests in full lol.
Mike, agree this looks to be good news for shareholders. Plenty of demand which is good. I don't think you'll find any problems with the meeting tomorrow, they'll have ensured the major shareholders are onside before offering the shares.

Agreed JD936, just looked at HL myself. Appreciate it would be easy to misinterpret for anyone with no experience of how these things work. As you say though, very much provisional allocation at this stage pending tomorrow's announcement. Given the very small % difference between the placing price & the current SP I wouldn't be surprised if most PI's get their allocations in full.

I've gone in for an additional £1k worth via HL on the basis that smaller requests are sometimes met in full, and with no dealing costs it's a shot to nothing. Not one of my larger holdings here but will look to add when opportunities like this come along. Expecting the initial announcement on Thursday will just be along the lines of "oversubscribed" or, heaven forbid as it's not underwritten, not fully taken up. Probably won't find out about allocations until the shares are received but we'll see.

Berenberg has moved BDEV from 'Hold' to 'Buy', hence a bit of support for other housebuilders today.

s a it's baffling me too. Making another attempt at 1.60 again this morning, feel it needs to break through that level and hold for now. Sooner or later it's going to start building towards that much-anticipated special dividend. I guess the investment case is tilted towards the April - October period though, with the Final, (potential) Special and Interim dividend payments due during that period.

Fair enough, I'm just not sure we've got the skillsets required to choose a suitable NED. If we can't trust the Board to do that job, what are we saying about them? I'm not sure an "activist"-style addition to the Board would be beneficial at this stage either, more of a distraction I'd have thought. To be fair, I think they've done pretty well with the appointments they've made anyway. Parker got some stick on here but he's brought in the HNWI's, just hope he can hold on to them now.

"Maybe another NED of our choosing?" Seriously?? We're PI's, we don't choose NED's, unless you've got examples of organisations that have invited PI's to sit on their Board? I guess one of the HNWI's might propose a NED from within their own organisation but they'd normally have to acquire a bigger % of the shareholding to start those kind of discussions.

this isn't bad news for everyone. Along with others, I got some pretty awful stick on here for even suggesting top-slicing. I've been caught out so many times before though, so I took some profits. Now I'm able to reinvest my trading pot at half the price and have money available to buy more if it keeps dropping. I'm sure many others will have done the same. Well done if you did the same, ignore the abuse and stick to your plan.

Bigeasy, appreciate your reply, my post wasn't intended as a personal attack either. It just bothers me that when long and short-term holders have been posting recently about selling, any additional pressure, accepting it as a statement of how things work (you'll have to accept my naivety with some of these things), might be enough to tip them into parting with their shares whilst the price is being suppressed when, potentially, we could be on the verge of transformational news. Helpful to get your insight nonetheless, thanks.

R_G buy a few more then? When the price drops, that's the time to think about buying, not selling. Then sell when everyone else is shouting "buy" or "hold". Works for me...

Gosh there's a lot of cancer about at the minute, sending best wishes to all who are either going through it themselves or who, like me, have family members fighting the fight. Serves as a reminder how important it is that SAR, and similar organisations in the same field, continue to receive support from investors large and small. There's really so much more work to do so we can reach a point where we can say "OK, it's cancer, but medical science has got it covered". Keep up the good work people, and keep up the fight. K

ks yes but the same directors sold (roughly) the same amount, admittedly for much less, this time last year & it didn't impact the sp at all. Given they both still hold c. 50m shares each, it's hardly throwing in the towel is it? There's much more to it than that, I don't know what but I do know that when it turns, as it will, it will turn hard and no-one will be able to catch the bottom.
