Pearls - do you seriously think MA will be making an offer for Debenhams at 23p? That's a 600% premium to the current share price - sorry but I cannot think of any takeover in the history of the stock market that a takeover offer has been at a six fold premium. (especially for a company in dire straits). Usually the premium is 50% to 200%. I know the argument is about the average share price over the previous twelve months etc. but forget a 23p offer. If it comes - it will more likely be in the 5-10p range imho

Invested for 10 minutes? Are you mad? I was initially quite an active short term trader when I had access to my SIPP after a transfer in - but I can't recall being that daft to trade so quickly - after the share price spread and dealing costs it's usually hardly worth it imho. Also speaking from experience - you do see the most wild share price movements in the first hour - several times I got into a share that had shot up 50% at 8.05am only to be sitting on a 20% loss half hour later. It's just not worth it - invest - have an exit target - and stick to it - is my advice from experience

Yep the only one posting seems to be non holder Smartie2 with his negative snide remarks. Either reinvest or move on!

Maybe the turncoat title can apply to ex holders who suddenly Io not see negatives? :-)
CVA in the next week - perhaps. A meeting for MA can still be a month away..

Just to be clear Smartie2, I don't like MA and have no idea whether him as CEO will be good or bad for Debenhams although he could provide the funding - on his terms. What is clear is that this development probably means at least a shirt term bounce in the share price and to be frank that's what I care about (as well as wishing the employees keep their jobs)

Agree he should make his intentions clear but a new CEO who forces administration etc. will trash his hard earned reputation imo

So were's the date of the EGM? Seems like the BoD are trying to hold off dealing with MA until bank talks conclude. Could get messy...

Journey back I time? God, some are still desperate to trash this company. The Bath store is modern, bright and usually fairly busy. You don't need time travel to buy clothles, perfumes, bedding or kitchen ware - we still use this stuff. It's all under one roof. If Debenhams is out of date then so is M&S, JL, HoF, Next, Arcadia and Primark because they are similar models ex size of stores. Retail is down period. It's not just a Debenhams issue! Btw Smartie2, matters were uncertain when you held. You might have made yet another bad call. Don't worry, we all do it from time to time.

My point being we can say what we want online? Why mention winning on the lottery? A little bit of ego there imho.
Btw the Helphire investment is legit. Made a fortune but it's stuck in a SIPP until 55. My point is we all have winners and losers. I have made a few bad calls over the years. I am convinced CLP will come good but it may not be this year. If you have sold out my advice is to not post/monitor here too often. It will only get you obsessed speaking from experience

Tbh I have no idea what you are withering on about. I got hit by a car while on my bike at a roundabout last year. Still getting over it. It's not a competition about who has had the worse accident, the biggest win on the lottery or made the most money. You started it. Just stick to discussing CLP and we will get along fine..

Btw money is great but health and happiest are far far more important...

I won the lottery, went to the moon and made millions buying Helphire (Redd) at 1p a decade ago. Some of this statement is true but you can literally say anything online....

Just seen the news - very happy. Not sure ALL the BoD bar one need to go but he wants the job of turning this around and to take the credit. Interesting that he's prepared to let go of SPD (for now) probably because of the HoF competition connection. 5p tomorrow? :-)

You don't have to be a toff to include the word "challenging" in a RNS or a BB post :-) Not every director is a toff - some will be .. some will not - stop making quite stupid assumptions imho.
Debenhams is also not the only company with debt - be it corporate bond debt or borrowings - most listed companies will have debt on their books - the ONLY difference between Debenhams and other similar retailers is the historic rental issue - all retailers have debt - most have seen margin and high street revenue declines and all have to pay higher living wage - NI - business rates (ex small retaiilers) - rents. Debenhams just happens to be nearer the admin door than a few other retailers on the stock market - but at least they are trying to sort their issues out by talking to the lenders.. by hoping to close 30-50 stores over the next few years. The question is whether they will be given the time to carry out their plans...

It is not misleading to state that later this month SPD/MA - who hold 29.9% of the share capital - will be free to make a bid for Debenhams. It doesn't mean it will happen - I reckon they will hold off to see the results of the D4E, CVA or a n other bank/landlord talks. Now... do you have actual investments to post on?? :-)

If you believe in a company - believe the NAV will increase and that the share price is undervalued then you long for as long as it takes imho. I hold CLP in my SIPp and have ten years to retire so I can wait. Of course I trade more actively with other shares and have added/sold some here over the years. It depends on whether you are after an quick buck or can wait until you share price target is reached. A stop loss is handy too. Tell you one thing though.. I have lost count of the number of times I have sold out of a share only for a RNS to land and the share price to double. So best not to keep monitoring ex investments although I do have a few favourites I look at from time to time

Will sign .. but why just AIM shares? IMO shorting has contributed to the (eg) share price decline at Debenhams were a large shareholder can lend out their shares to push the share price down! Not sure if shorting can be banned for FTSE shares but there should be a max limit - say 10% of the share issue - or a limit on what an individual company can short ie. 3%. Hopefully this petition will gather many signatures
