Obviously it's a mandatory offer going over the 29.9% limit - I presume if SPD fail to secure 50% of the share issue then the company remains listed and they have to wait six months to make another bid? TBH it's hard not to see SPD reaching the 50% threshold - agree the offer isn't enough

I don't know why LSE keep threads active years after delisting or suspension (WRN and MTV comes to mind). It just keeps the ambers burning that the company will come back - whether possible or not. Some here post I believe because it's literally their only investment - they have all their money tied up here - they literally need to see some return. Good luck to them and everyone else - but the longer it's delisted the less and less likely it will come back imho

Well always DYOR but as far as any poster is concerned - Riddler has been around for over a decade - is a very well known, respected, active poster who has invested in 100s of shares over the years (or it seems like it lol) and knows his stuff. Not commenting on whether he is right or wrong on twitter about this company but he gets more right than wrong imho gla here

Seriously though - I hadn't noticed - and I used to be a shareholder in Findel - so Sports Direct will be making a mandatory offer for Findel - value around £150 million? It makes more sense for SPD than some of its other acquisitions recently - I still worry they are going to overheat on the expansion front and take on too much debt and this time SPD are not buying a company in administration or at a share price low.
Whethter it's directly relevant to Debenhams is another matter - except in the regard that SPD hold 29.9% here and if they did the same as Findel and acquired another 10% off another shareholder - then a mandatory offer will happen here - probably at a small premium. Keeps the interest going (here)

At 3p it's hard to see how much more shareholders can suffer unless there is a 10 for 1 consolidation at the same time as any D4E. I am sure the company will be trying to keep a stock market listing but not a cert this will remain the case. As for MA and/or a CVA - maybe Brexit will happen first lol

Thanks - similar reasons to me then.. agree you don't have to be invested to be interested ... maybe i get too defensive sometimes.. I agree some of the Debenhams stores are too big now - not all - the 3-4 floor modern stores seem to be roughly the right size - i would use any spare space for inserting alternatives like hairdressers - gyms - concessions - or even office space - presuming they keep some of the large stores.
Strange though that were I like (The Mall - Cribbs Causeway) they are looking to double the size of the retail park - which seems the wrong move considering the ecomony - it will only work if any expansion includes a mixture or food - retail - and leisure. Have a great weekend all

HC, it's obvious you are either shorting or have an agenda . Again you misled in your last post. The company is trading in line with market expectations. Consensus seems to be £20 million underlying profits. Matters might get worse .. however I still doubt a pre exceptionals loss this period.

Companies can recover. Seem it happen so many times. Most here will agree though that a CVA and D4E will probably be needed to secure future. Also remember a 1p share price rise is equal to 33% movement. So no wonder so many are reading the share at this time. Of course the risks are high with so many balls up in the air..

Tbh I used to sell out to make quick trades elsewhere. The trouble though is that theres no guarantee the new investment performs well and you tend to monitor the ex investment(s) for a while after disposal. The lesson I learnt is that sometimes it's best to hold fire until the sp target you have is hit gl

Don't (just) pick on MOS. The comment on paying director fees is valid for 75% of AIM companies. Some develop into a profitable company.. others do not. We don't need the constant troll reminders...

Remember RKB has been here a long time - has a significant shareholder - has spoken to the CEO many times - have made the effort to travel to Italy to see the assets/land - and have gained information from speaking to CLP/sources though determination and hard work/research.
Has he got every prediction right? Probably not .. not I rather trust his comments than anyone else on this thread - you do have to question the personal attacks (imo)... if you are a shareholder - sit and wait for news..

lse2000 - get your facts right - SPORTS DIRECT made these acquisitions - not Mike Ashley per se (he is the main shareholder). SPD is still worth a decent amount - I believe is still making profits. Why are they buying these chains? For two reasons 1) to gain greater high street exposure and more fire power when dealing with suppliers and landlords and 2) because they believe they are buying these chains at the bottom of the cycle - by merging operations and cutting out the fat ie. the loss making stores - they hope to end up with a leaner more profitable company of multi brands - they are in no hurry - short term losses are fine if longer term it translates into profits.
Of course this is not certain - the high street may be on a terminal decline in footfall/revenue - or it may bottom out. Interest rates are rising. SPD debt has increased sharply. However the company can issue new issues and raise significant amounts and MA himself still has a decent size bank account!
I don't like the guy - but I understand his motives buying these brands - whether he goes for Debenhams is up in the air - I believe he will monitor events from the side lines - he has time on his side - unlike Pearls - I simply do not expect a bid next month. The summer at the earliest imho
