backwardation also applies to ANY situation where bid is above offer.
originated in the oil markets, but is used very widely in derivatives markets (my field) and simple stock markets.

it's called backwardation, generally a good sign.

IF the bod do manage to get the consolidation and share issue passed they will need to place the shares with someone.
if history teaches us anything that company WILL forward sell the allocation.
IF they can't forward sell it's likely they would pull out of the share issue.
So, simply don't buy any shares before the share issue. if at all!

I think the point is most long term holders have lost most of their investment by this point and would rather see the company and the bod go under than give them another penny!
if the compounds are any good they will be picked up by someone so don't worry about patients suffering.
in fact, another company with decent managment might actually bring them to market!

took over £100k as shares INSTEAD of cash is RELEVANT.
this is important.
but, the misserable s*ds on here will try to twist it.

anyone in the know obviously understood Brian's purchase was the severance package.
the arrticle does usefully highlight director confidence in future share price, albeit from an incomplete understanding of the reason he 'bought' the shares. may not have actually 'bought' but it is still very relevant that he agreed to take over £100k as shares.
his 'sale' is perfectly normal way of covering liabilities.
he had the right to demand cash and the company had the money to pay him.
only a fool would have agreed if he thought the deal would result in a lower sp!
