AV had a fairly amazing day.
Monday will bring a new day and a new game.
It's funny when you sell stock and it goes up afterward I'm like why did I sell. /kicking myself
When I buy and it goes down I'm like why did I rush back in should have kept the cash./kicking myself
When I hold cash and it goes up I am like why did,t I buy earlier./kicking myself
When I hold cash and it goes down I am hoping it goes down a lot/dollar signs in my eyes
Once it goes down and I brought in I am like omg stop crashing how is this going so badly wrong/kicking myself
It is amazing that everyone is not insane playing this game stress v reward

Not a bad start looks like I bet the wrong way win some lose some.

Most of us I would imagine are the very tiny to tiny players with a few very small players on these chats.
I do wonder sometimes on the 13million volume so far today how many of them are big/fund investors twinking their portfolio or are smaller investors.
I suspect most tiny /small investors look at these chats on here or the other site, I reckon for every person that posts a message many more probably read it.

dividendchaser You just need to be patience nothing is guaranteed but the company is as sound as you are going to get in this situation.
Even if the BOD turns out to be terrible the train that is AVIVA will carry on.
People will look back in a few years and say I could have got these stocks at such a low price.
In a few years time excluding companies that are in trouble, the average dividend of the FTSE at a guess will be around 4%
AVIVA won,t be at 230 at this point even if the dividend is cut when it returns.
You just got to be patience and sit on the fence.

dividendchaser It is only a matter of time weeks/months maybe before we hit the worst of the virus in the EU and sometime after that in the USA.
Then the weekly job reports in the USA will start going up dragging sp500 dow ect and everyone with it up each week
Sometime in June/July aug, we should start to hear if some of the vaccines are working. and this will send the stock market up a lot if the news is good.
The Oxford professor said the other day if I understood it correctly on NBC news that the vaccine working is not the issue what they worried about is all how safe it is.
They should start to know my June and every day that goes past the odds are improving.

I would not in your position unless I found another stock that had dropped more with a better prospect of recovering the 50%
I sold on Friday morning at 235 as I thought it was going to be a nightmare day and then it went up to 239 I was kicking myself and then finished at 237 tho i did make 1% back playing with Lloyds, today it seems that call was correct but could of easily gone up today and weaken my position, even more, luck was on my side and if I go back in now my position is up 1% or average is down 1%
It might be best just not to look and come back in 6 months I keep telling myself this as well but I can,t resist looking I don,t have the will power.

I think we all know AVIVA is fairly safe, it is only a matter of time before it recovers, I am guessing if you really believe that and you were down so got to play the long game.

You are right there is no guarantee that the vaccines will work. but the oxford one and been tested on monkeys and works and has 2 manufacturers lined up to make it at cost.
The lead professor said a few weeks ago before the( monkey's test in the USA) she was 80% confident and that it will work that's got to be 80%+ now.
That is just 1 of over 100 vaccines being developed with 8 on human trials the odds have got to be looking good for a vaccine.

AVIVA is not going anywhere the company seems sound to me in 2009 they went from 198 to 430 in 1 year.
Within a year they will be pumping out the vaccine. and the SP will go back up.
Even if the SP does not rise you got the dividend which is just under 13%.
Best-case scenario the SP doubles in value and the dividend grows over the next 5 years equals 150%+ return.
Worst case we could go bust but I don,t think that's going to happen tho it could drag on for a few years dividend could be cut or stopped for another year but I think the best scenario is more likely, I might play on the sidelines if it goes up and down but I don,t want to miss the rise when it comes.
I think AVIVA and a few others have the chance to go up between 50% and 100%

I want to find a company that pays good dividends when things return to normal with faith and luck and a big if they retain the old dividend rate.
My entry point was 244.10 with 12.6% dividends unless I can make money short term and increase my pot at same dividend.

It is far easier to day trade when you're up.
I know what you mean tho if feels 10 times riskier when your down, you know that one day it will go back up and you don,t want to miss the boat when it does and when you take the risk and it goes south the fear of missing the rise is too much.
I have in the past held Barc from 213 down to 155 very painful took many trades to get back up since mid-2017 from 30+% down on Barc 2017/2018 to now being up a lot.
and even worst in the financial crash, I held RBS from 65 down to 12 that nearly destroyed my funds lucky it did,t stay at 12p very long and over many many trades got 96% of the fund back before I quit.
Sold everything this morning AV 252 down 5% Barc 103.50 RBS 115.50 both up near 10% total fund up 2%
I'm tempted to go back into AV

If you look at the average price over the last 5 years, I think we looking at a 99.99% chance will going to make money over the next few years, not even counting the 13% dividends when they restart.
Everything passes in time just need to be in at a price that you are happy with.
I don,t think the deaths will be a big issue and the business cover seems to be rather limited from what others have said on the wording of Aviva contracts.
I am no expert on insurances but
If for argument sake a huge recession causes lots of life insurance policies to get canceled due to affordability and other policies would the 180% coverage go through the roof due to less liability?

You can,t rule out gut feeling, half of it is numbers and half of it is understanding how you thinking what everyone else is going to do.
I am tempted 50/50 at the moment to go back in, but I am all so thinking about the USA weekly job figures tomorrow I think I need to check dates, and even tho the last 2 weeks the USA markets went up after the job reports.
I have got the feeling it will not happen this time.
Plus you have easter holiday good Friday 3-4 days of bad news. unless the death rates go down but I think in the USA things are going to get worst tho the EU might get better.
could go either way but I think the USA news will have more impact than the better news from the EU.
So I'm guessing Thursday could be bad.
Unless the EU pulls out a new bailout plan or trump does something new.
My gut says to wait but my trigger finger has the buy button ready on the screen.

Hi finding the right/start price is always going to be a 50/50 call.
If you're going long it not going to matter just don,t panic sells if it goes down, unless you think the company is in trouble or your lucky enough to buy back in at a lower price, which many people do and many get caught on the wrong side of the share price.
How many people in 2008/9 sold and regret selling to early to see their old stock go up 3 fold.
Read the chat's but Everyone has to make their own judgment.
