The beauty of this test is that there are NO upfront manufacturing costs. It is a blood test , taken by a doctrr/ consultant and is sent to a lab for processing.

The test has been highlighted by numerous medical media outlets and without doubt those involved with diagnosing Prostate cancer will have it in their line of vision and as of yesterday will know they can both avail of it AND that it will be fully reimbursed by the big American medical insurers.

The only additional costs are customer service reps to man the phones and liase between the test takers and the labs. Although long term I expect this will be direct , test taken and straight to lab.

For those who don't understand. Some genuinely don't.

Specificity, or true negative rate, quantifies how well a test identifies true negatives (i.e., how well a test can classify subjects who truly do not have the condition of interest)

The new Canadian test has a specificity of 36 indeed 3 times more accurate then current PSA test , however nowhere near as accurate as OBD's test . As per the RNS specificity of 97 % , so If OBD elected to report it in a similar fashion x 8 more accurate ( however just one measurement)

Earl of Aim , no its not a pandemic, unfortunately one in eight men will get Prostate cancer.

There is no accurate diagnostic tool.

The current PSA test in the uk falls far short 55 % versus the new OBD test 94 %.

The current PSA test then requires a biopsy often taken from multiple sites to ascertain spread.

That requires a surgeon and then a pathologist to examine cells. That is then often followed by an Mri.

The costs are astronomical, the rates of incorrect diagnosis high and entail lengthy waits.

The new OBD test is fast , simple to execute , requires no surgical intervention and no upfront manufacturing costs. It has remarkably just received clearance in the states for medical reimbursement from the major players. This was achieved in 3 months instead of the usual 24 months. Thus is reflective of the recognition this groundbreaking test is having in the medical arena.

Your posts are ricadicadoodalous. Of course it isn't a cure, you need to diagnosed first and OBD have developed the test to do that.

It's incredible they got clearance and the medical reimbursement passed in such a short time frame, 3 months, as stated in the RNS it is often 2 years.

This is reflective of what a groundbreaking diagnostic test this is . I expect early adoption as the "go to test '
