Security, only British companies build Warships for the MOD.

What would Navantia hope to achieve by doing that ?

It is government policy that no warship will built outside of the UK, for a plethora of reasons, not least security.

No Royal Navy Warship has been built outside of the UK since before World War 2.

Even Scotland is at risk if it were to become independent, of losing contracts.

I think Navantia are fully aware of this and I don't expect to see them try and contract directly with the MOD.

I don't think Alan Haley, head of Engineering at H&W, employed for 34 years ,fits into the category of maintenance and security. He is one of many highly skilled staff retained by Infrastrata , when they took over the yard. They have subsequently made a point of targeting grey beards to ensure the correct balance of experience exists in such a rapidly growing business. So much drivel stated as fact on here and it invariably emanates from the same posters.

GM put money aside to replace tests the NHS said they couldn't use. It is my belief that he was prepared as a goodwill gesture to replace the original Exsig with Promate , the DHSC weren't interested, they had moved onto LFTS. The replacement is not an admission of any guilt it was done to try and ensure continuity of business and to try and ensure the lucrative phase 2 of the contract was signed. That's imo , see also Exmexes earlier post , detailing some of the places Exsig was used , with details provided .

They didn't offer to replace defective tests , they developed Promate, less cumbersome, faster...

there is a huge difference and the govt took it , used it and ordered more but refused to pay for it. See the redacted contract as to what exactly was permissable with regards to new /improved tests / assays.
