RE: 15 Minute Test20 Sep 2020 08:55
True, phantom. But with current regulations it's also true that currently Avacta spit test results will need to be interpreted by a clinical practice professional too. Not a single covid test, antibody or antigen, has been authorised for self use so at some point early next year the regulations will have to change in time for Boris Spring aim. This will be the biggest hurdle Avacta and any spit stick testing company faces, and probably why clinical validation and trials are taking so long, they need to make sure the test can be interpreted correctly by the general public. After all, nearly 50% of people are stupider than average.
The UK govt wasn't interested in their antibody test, despite being one of the first to market, majority of their sales are from abroad.
Got 50 of surescreens antibody tests arriving in the next week or so, will be interesting to see the quality of them, will enquire about the antigen too, how it works, are they aiming for self administration etc. The fact there's a 2nd more accurate (and no doubt more expensive) test would leave me to conclude it's some way behind the accuracy of affimers.
