Typical Stroll masterclass in delivering stunning news, which deserved far greater reaction today but realistically minds were elsewhere. In any normal landscape these would have seriously roared. However you cannot get away from the fact that Aston's fundamental proposition is now so enhanced that there are several scenarios and they all pan out extremely well for us. Effectively the SP is copper bottomed at 62p, downside is limited, upside is of huge promise. Stroll knows it & so do MB.

Think the clue to where we're heading given in George from Goldman's opening line in the conference call yesterday, 'congratulations on today's announcements'. Ask ourselves just one question, if this was Groundhog Day & Aston was being readied for it's IPO in a year's time, would a valuation of £4Bn now be looking far fetched. I don't believe so, and the battery electric vehicle technology that has been acquired in Stroll's master stroke only reinforces that belief. He has literally put the whole business plan into a time machine and knocked off 2-3 years.

Masterstroke by Stroll, the strategic co-operation plan with Mercedes, it's not just the saving on investment & cash outflow, but propels Aston into a world class stock that is going to be re-rated many times now on the journey LS has mapped out to 2024-25. Price flies in the immediate future but that is only to where it should have been on 'normal' news. This is game-changing.

Roger, if I'm being frank wasn't keen on your style when you arrived but hope you'll accept my apology, with your calling of the bottom you're growing on me. As painful as this prolonged period in the fifties has been - actually see a lot of positives. One, the market knows this isn't going to run out of cash; two, Aston are actually manufacturing luxury products that wealthy people want right here & now; & three, if the debt is manageable in these times it sure as hell is going to be next year and beyond. So even with Clarkson being a bit of a grouch (come on, 2 stars, you've got to be kidding), not even a sideways lurch. The next chapter is nearly ready to be opened & I feel we're going to like it.

What an opportunity for any one who missed out previously & then regretted it at earlier peaks. This SP is stuck in a vacuum until we hear proper solid news. Can't help thinking how De La Rue went from 41 to 120 overnight back in June. If Stroll Moers Ken G are on it like we think they are something is going to happen.

If you think about the big picture here, hovering around the 50p mark is no big surprise really. Stroll imo is very keen on keeping this out of play until concrete figures are ready to be revealed. Private Equity & Trade buyers can't get involved whilst Aston still (inaccurately) classed as a basket case. The reality is more like this is now worth min 1.5Bn & no chance Stroll letting it go for that. Unthinkable. That's why this has been hermetically sealed last few weeks. When lid comes off this blows.

My opinion on MTC fwiw. More by happenstance than design, this outfit has found itself in the enviable position of controlling the master licence worldwide for a brand that is still sought after and much respected overseas, but without any of the risk or cost of being the actual retailer that they were best known for in the UK. Bearing in mind pre virus Global was returning annual profits c£25m, it's not hard to see why this will attract attention from some powerful players (NXT) rather than bottom fishers (BOO, Hilco etc) once the sign out clause with the UK Administrator's ends in November. Can see a take out price itro 100-125 million (4-5x p/e on recovery) being achievable against current market val of £35.5m. Usual caveats apply, def not for the faint hearted. Solid CEO appointment key now to efficient delivery. Jtini

DBX has been virtually news blackout on orders, with Moers-Stroll vice like grip stamped all over it. Compare Palmer's almost loquacious version of 7th January ' DBX order book has built rapidly to c.1,800 since it opened on 20 November 2019, c.1,200 of which are customer-specified' with the trading statement 26th June 'Strong DBX orderbook maintained ahead of July media launch'. The numbers when they come will be sensational & if two-thirds of those are loaded with customer specs, this price is seriously going to fly. Calm before the storm. Jtini

Palmer's main problem was that Goldman & the other IPO wise guys installed a boiler that ran on $100 bills. As these ran out and Aston rapidly had to start burning the furniture near the end of 2019, Stroll made his move with impeccable timing. He effectively performed corporate open heart surgery knowing that Palmer's dream of the DBX was something incredibly special to make come alive. The boiler no longer runs on the old fuel & great excitement is about to commence I feel. Jtini

Automotive suddenly in fashion, Stroll & his cohorts showing their intentions for AML, serious money is eyeing this up. The sector is in a hugely transformative period, partnerships now forming for coming out the other side of this. In the US General Motors has just received a $2 billion stake in Nikola Corp an electric truck start up, for supplying batteries & fuel cell technology. The second big deal in a week for GM. None of this happening to AML imo until DBX has established and starts second gen evolving, but think this type of scenario is definitely in Stroll's master plan. Jtini

It's not for the faint hearted or weak kneed, you're spot on Nevas. That's for sure. Had a few situations in my 'recovery' portfolio, thought they couldn't go any lower, but lo and behold every day another new low. My policy is to bin 'em, just get out, because the negative energy is draining. But AML does not for me personally fit this category, doesn't get anywhere near it, I'm continually upbeat about where this is heading. Just watching Lawrence Stroll bounding up to join the team photo at Monza, confirmed everything I believe in. Nothing staged in that. This guy is the real deal. I'm in. Jtini

Without discussing specifics here I do feel we should always regret any loss of a passionate and extremely well researched contributor to this board. Perhaps in the future more serious disputes on here could be referred immediately to a respected contributor nominated by both parties to act as judge with any opinion handed down binding. Tomorrow is another day. Until then really energised by Lance's P3 yesterday, think this is the beginning of a purple patch for Stroll & of course our beloved AML. Jtini

Tobias getting into the detail must be for those around him like having your ears popping on landing. I'm cool with where we are. Personally, whether this nets me up or down £2-3k over a couple of days is largely irrelevant, only effect is on feelgood and evening wine selection from cellar (stored offsite in temperature controlled warehouse aka Costco). I'm in this for the days ahead when we roar into uncharted territory, and the hardest decisions will have to be made. Until then quite content with my Malbec at a tenner. The Barolo can wait. Jtini
