Despite a booming Irish economy I think the bank results will show zero growth and more than likely will have profits less than last year by 50 to 100 million A fortune has been spent on new IT but as of yet see very little customer benefit and even less investor benefit. in the long run we all will but not in 2019 results. Dividend a little better than last year as promised. Expect to see the " in line with expectation" mentioned more than once. good news will be on NPL's but bad news will be on pressure to continue increasing CET1% and poorer NIM. Share price will continue to be at the whim of the ECB.

P. yes, but that's just one days trade. We all know this is a crap share but it's in a crap sector full of crap shares where one is just as bad as the other. You need to look a little longer term and not always on the negative. Not good for the mind.

eg. on Oct 23rd share price at 4.17 you posted "Almost 8% down in 24 hours! Sub 4 again soon. Only bank in the world....."

On Nov 21st sp 4.13 you posted " I think we are in a parallel banking universe here, down 4% in Dublin!"

But by year end we were back up at 5.00. That's UP 20% in 2 months and you never posted on any increase .

P. for your own good health this new year maybe better off not sweating the daily changes. Birg has preformed exactly as the STOXX 600 european banking index during 2019. No doubt it will again in 2020. For our boat to lift we need a complete sector repricing. That's in the hands of the ECB unfortunately.

2 of my long term share holdings hit new all time highs this week. Unfortunately not BIRG. It's still a lot closer to it's all time low with very little on the horizon to spark it into life. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling we'll be in the same boat this time next year.

I'm not sure the 2 choices will be WA2 or no deal. Johnson has no majority to set the agenda.
It's just as likely to be a NO brexit. The Ben law still applies even if the EU don't want an extension. The UK still have to ask.

I'm not surprise the DUP are unhappy. I know there is still the HoC vote to stop this deal but they have made a huge mistake i believe. If they had voted for May's WA (the 2nd deal) NIreland would be in an equal position to the rest of UK. This deal is even worse from their point of view than May's 1st deal. It not only puts the border in the Irish sea but on many issues NI is now far closer to the Republic (and the EU) than to the UK. They may even be allowed to match our VAT rates. If the deal does go through (not at all sure) then they will have to hope the Uk and the EU negotiate a free trade agreement that keeps them as close as possible. In fact the best option now for them is NO BREXIT at all. Other wise it will be the end of Foster and Dodds at the very least and a major rethink inside the DUP of where their future lies.

In fairness this proposed deal is ridiculously complicated at the tariff and vat end. Then there's the 4 year consent issue to destabilise any progress that does happen. Will it even get to a vote in HoC.
From a share price point it's just more uncertainly.

If some sort of deal is agreed tonight we could be +10% tomorrow. Arlene just interview and sounding as if the DUP never destroyed May's same deal(ish) when she suggested a border down the irish sea over a year ago. Mind you AF won't be the only one doing an historic U turn. The HoC will do exactly the same shortly.

May's original deal with a time limit probably (4years?) and a referendum instead of a DUP veto. Also likely that it would have to be a 60-40 majority. Arlene is going to have to spin this some way or other because she is on the wrong side otherwise. That's my guess.
Not the worst time to consider getting off the fence on Birg shares.

That's always been the case. None of the directors have ever had a serious stake in the business. They should be paid a % of salary in shares.
