Morning Roger. Last years final dividend amounted to 16•5p (13) so depending on results I'd be looking for c.19-20p for this year which is easily covered and yielding c.2•6% is not too shabby for an unloved Aim microcap.

Morning all.

MSi holders will receive an increased interim dividend of 5p (3p) payable on Friday the 17th Jan.

Asian mrkts are a sea of red this morning after negative cues from Wall St on Friday where the 4 major indexes fell substantially due to stronger than forecast US employment data weighed on the outlook for rates. It raised concerns the Fed will hold rates at current levels or slowdown the pace of reductions. The first full week of trading saw the S&P fall 148 points the DJI off 794 and the Nsdq 478 lower.

In Australia the ASX 200 closed 104 points down with financials and techs being sold off but losses were partially offset by gains in mining and energy amid spiking commodity prices.

Big faller on the day was NRW Holdings ($3•45 AUD) tumbling 9% after CFO Simons unexpectedly resigned.

Japan mrkts are closed for Aged Day. Elsewhere investors in HK & Taiwan are aggressively selling stocks on back of Wall St down end to the week. Pan Pacifica's all follow the weaker trend in other regional markets. Latest indexes as below.

Crude oil prices rose on Friday after President Biden decided to impose additional sanctions on Russian oil exports. WTI ended $2•65 a barrel higher. Latest Brent price $81•24.

Asian shares were mostly higher yesterday after a rally in US techs overnight sent the Nsdq up 233. The USD index edged higher in Asian trade after falling 1% on Monday. Treasuries were little changed after the yield on the 30 year note climbed to the highest in over a year while Oils steadied after its first drop in 6 sessions.

On the markets the Dow dipped 26 as 14/30 blue chip stocks rose led by Nvidia, Amazon & Microsoft. Going down Nike, Honeywell & P&G. Nvidia closed at its highest level ever ($150) despite worries about a potential bubble investors continue to talk up the sector. Uber tech ($67) drove higher after the ride hailing company said it would accelerate $1•5bn in purchases of its own stock as the price looks too cheap compared to the strength of its business.

This week will herald the latest updates on monthly job openings along with more economic data. So far the economy has remained remarkably resilient despite high interest rates used to stifle inflation. Also this week will have one fewer day of trading than usual. The NYSE will close their stock & options markets on Thursday in observance of a National Day of mourning for former President Jimmy Carter.

Major Asian mrkts were substantially lower today led by declines on the Nikkei 225 which is down 555 on its first day of trading in 2025. The Yen trades at 157 per USD.

HK fell 113 despite news that China services activity hit a 7 month high and over in Shanghai the Yuan breached a key milestone for the first time since 2023 reporting the People's Bank of China will issue the largest ever onshore Yuan bonds in HK this month. In erratic trade the Shanghai comp is down 11 near close.

In Sydney the ASX200 closed marginally higher as tech stocks mirrored gains in the US, off'setting declines in the mining sector as iron ore prices tumbled. The market closed up 7 at 8257.

S. Korea's Kospi index showed signs of life as a court dismissed an appeal by lawyers of Yeon Suk Yeol against an arrest warrant for the impeached President. The KOSPI closed up 43 at 2485 having fallen 11% last year.

Lastly Gold slipped to 2629 in low volume despite outperforming most other asset classes in 2024 traders still expect the gold stuff to hit $3000 this year.

Wk 1 done and dusted muddled as it spanned the old year and new year over a 9 day period which included Christmas, New Year and the 'Santa Rally' and any other religious festival you care to name as I'm sure we have a few in the UK.

Here are the wk 1 numbers to date. As you will note if you have been paying attention the trend continues downwards if only in small volumes and surprisingly the averages came in at +7%. As from next week it will be back to normal.

The bearish trend continues as the shares are rangebound between 950 & 900p. Can't see anything to break this trend as buyers are thin on the ground giving small lot sellers a free run. Won't take much to send the shares sub 900 imo and I confidentiality expect this to happen sooner than later.

I'm no chartist and rarely look at them but I do know when the 50 DMA crosses below its 200 DMA a bearish

shift in sentiment occurs and by my reckoning it's already happened.

We shall see in the coming weeks if there's any validity to this old saying.

Yea I get that Roger but mobs are essential if your moving about a fair bit and need easy access while sipping a pint or two! The fact I'm useless at navigating my way round these annoying things is my fault as I more often than not press the wrong bloody button.

After 2 consecutive years of 20% gains for the 500 analysts predict a slower pace for the index this year.

However as US company earnings are expected to remain resilient despite doubts over the Fed Res rate cuts and Trump's shake up of the Govt administration, most predict a 'steady as you go' year.

The median year end target for the 500 of those polled sits at 6600 a 12% increase from the current level. The targets range from Oppenheimer's bullish 7100 to Stifels 5500 the lone call for the benchmark index to fall in the coming year.

Much will depend on the 'Mag 7' massive out-performance continuing in 2025 and GDP growing at c.2•4% with core inflation of 2•5%. One negative is Trump's proposed policies such as high tarrifs on imports, tax cuts for companies and immigration curbs are considered potentially inflationary.
