India the worlds bigest importer of edible oils saw imports of palm oil fall 27% in Sept due to slack demand from Hotels & Restaurants while soyoil usage jumped 28% to 316,000 tonnes on higher household demand.
Total palm oil imports in Sept hit 644,000 tonnes down from
880,000 last year while sunflower oil plunged 47% to 68,000 tonnes. India imports soy from Brazil, Argentina & Ukraine.
India is the worlds 2nd most infected country with 7•5m cases and 114,000 deaths. Indicative nos only as reporting systems are not up to Western standards.

Despite a late sell off in Big Tech which took 200 off the DJ the 30 closed 112 ahead. The 500 was flat and the Nsdq100 turned down but eked out small weekly gain as did the Dow.

Retail sales blew past forecasts rising c.2% considering the desperate state of many consumers finances that's remarkable but one can thank on line for that. Wallmart & Home Depot were steady. Wells Fargo CEO warned that customer balances were running on empty. Boeing the pis 'love-hate' stock rose to the top of the big board gaining $6 to $169 on news that the Max Jet has been cleared to return to service, all it needs is a bit of love and customers. Apple $119 propped up the laggards, Msoft u/c $220.

Of the SP500 companies issuing Q3 nos, 85% of the 49 have topped Wall's low bar estimates to date and 7/11 SP500 sectors closed in the plus column, Energy suffered the bigest loss. News of the dire state of the public finances ($3•1tn defecit /15% of GDP) and rising came after the close.

Better wk for REA, shares gained 5 (58) but only ? on the ask on much better vols of c. 603,000 flattered by the two 210,000 buys.
Cpo closed today at $789 up $1 on the week and ytd c.$691. Other palms trended lower over the wk, Anglo lost 4 & Mpe 12, ball park. The KLPI slipped 217 on the week and runs 11% down ytd.
London equities gained today except the 250 and over the week the All Share lost 52 the ftse 97. Brent at $43 added 22c on the week, Gold lost $31 & Copper lost 70c to $3.068.
Otherwise it was an uneventful
week.

Its Friday and who wants to hold these....well you get the picture. No trades today outside of your coffee shop purchase value and that's to be expected. No change on the week if you follow lse at 53-59.
Fair enough, buy vols do little to encourage us for a number of reasons most of which are hamstrung by bloody covid which when I last looked had zero impact on far flung Indonesian plantations tapping for rubber or cropping ffbs.

If you believe that palm is a Gdp variant calculated by the number crunchers and is a factor so be it. I don't. In fact I dont believe palm has any real significance on the global economy because of its wide applicability to thousands of products, it's kinda just there, used everywhere, you add the est $50bn value up.
You dont believe me? Check commodity lists, see if you can find the demon oil among gold, coffee, wheat, cotton, corn, gas and jelly beans...you wont. Palm doesnt feature among the top 10 most traded.
Yet, as the most widely used commodity after Crude and the second most important commodity in modern society you'd a thunk?

Probably not as it's a hidden ingredient which does not advertise its presence among all the other additives in everyday product usage. Despite Greenpeace best efforts blaming the demon oil for all the worlds climate woes, palm just sits there on supermarket shelves across the world bothering no shopper and finding it's way via soap, ice cream and cooking oil into millions of shopping baskets.
The rape of thousands of ha of prime Amazonian forestry leveled for beef cattle never gets a mention. Why should it Greenpeace have all their spies in Indonesia skulking round smallholders in deepest Borneo checking for RSPO certs. As far as I know noone has established the wide usage of palm in total product terms, its many thouands for sure. Suffice to say they are still counting and most concur it gives you your best bang for your buck, your best bang for your ha, your best bang..... period.

I could write a book on spreads which mostly benefit jobbers who are wont to split the diff on a whiff of a deal. My greengrocer often chucks in stuff for free, hence the long queue outside his stall and now working just 4 days a week, I wonder why?

Of course your right rugs...all I'm doing is reporting lse nos. For sure ring your broker, go on line for a better price. However, it's the passer by who I'm more interested in who may not delve further....and is put off by the wide spread. If others can quote better prices why not lse?

A re- gig of the sp and a 470 buy sends the stock up 7%....bucking the trend of late, heh heh heh!

Is crude oil a busted flush propped up by a weak dollar? Will demand revert to the good old days? RDSB & BP dont think so if their sps are anything to go by. Check out RDSB (926) down 58% ytd & BP (206) down 56% ytd.

Desperately trying to repackaged themselves into leaders of the 'green' revolution their core product ain't changing anytime soon. Investors mesmerised by the huge falls fixate on their low sps thinking its bogof at bargain basement prices. Global headwinds mainly in terms of demand & sustainable capex should concentrate investors thoughts, not low share prices and Biden has yet to come into the equation. Could he start talks with Iran, renegotiate the nuclear deal or end sanctions?

How oil at sub $30 for years ahead will effect palm prices is unknown but it most certainly will and might scupper the biofuel program. Brent has recently hit a $16 low, albeit very briefly so you rule out nothing.

Usually TR1s are required to be reported within 2 trading days of various thresholds being crossed, I'm told. So those 2 large 210,00 buys obviously didnt qualify under tr1 rules or the buyer wished to remain anonymous.
My guess Mickey Mouse was hoovering up jobber bargains. It's been commented on elsewhere that the exchange is pretty lax on enforcing TR1s popping up weeks later or on New Years eve and the like hoping pis are in their cups and while I'm on my hobby horse have you ever seen an up to date Major Shareholder Holdings list?

A LRT 30,000 buy at 55 pushed the close down 1/2p. Those two earlier 210,000 buys could have saved themselves £6,000 had their timing been a touch better..........Heh ho the more you buy the cheaper the stock.....what a wonderful life us investors lead.
Nowdays pis face a dilemma. " Do I buy or sell?" Because if I buy it will go down and if I sell it will go down and if I do nothing it will go down. Ucfk me it never used to be like this!

The Dow pulled out of a 330 slump early on to close just 20 lower. Nothing of note happened to drive stocks higher, in fact the background 'noise' worsened.
An unexpected rise of 70,000 new claims (899,000) fears stalling the economy, rising infections and lockdowns across Europe, the package bill stalled on the runway and the vaccine Remdesivir turning out a bust, shocked investors on Wed was largely ignored yesterday as bottom fishers bought the nos not the news. US equities bounce back pretty damn quickly these days.

Big tech stocks & healthcare were broadly lower early on most off c.1-2%, but came back strongly later. Falls among second tier Nsdq 100s were offset by gains in banks, energy and retail. Morgan Stanley earnings and revenue beats pleased investors shares climbed to $51.40 & Wallgreen 4Q profit nos beat forecasts shares up 4% to $37. Zoom up $33 ($543) was the star riser of the day on vaccine busts and Apache Corp an O&G expo Co was the top gainer on the 500 closing up 6% on 3Qs. At the close risers beat fallers by 1685-1377 on the NYSE.

Same ol' price action 108 sells out of 28,099 trim the sp 1/2. Not significant in itself but confirms more buys dont necessarily translate into increasing share prices. I doubt for a minute REA is the only share suffering like this. Perhaps it's the new normal but it's not really encouraging much volume from pis or volatility for jobbers to put food on the table.
Cpo tumbled c.$20 its first pull back for a while and overdue for traders to lock in gains. I wouldn't be concerned about cpo as much as I am about REAs lack of progress on the sp front given what we know from the H/Y nos.
It's a sick mrkt when cos with improving nos get the cold shoulder and see values hitting historic lows. If that's the mrkt doing its job then there is a screw loose somewhere.

However patience is key here no use in letting the mrkt bore you to death so you sell out for all the wrong reasons. Wait the buggers out for one day Rodders we'll be millionaires!

One day lse will get buys & sells in the correct colour. Today's 1742 is clearly a buy but shown as a sell as are others, the 55.88s & 55.90s are buys. Understandable in a big ftse stock with hundreds of trades a second but in a Southern League micro cap? I don't think so but that's computers for you. For instance my mob does not recognise the noun 'nos' that's printed as 'now' however many times I try and tell it!

It's not of vital importance I know, more an annoyance than anything else because it gives the passer by the wrong impression if he sees columns of red nos leading to thinking no'ones buying. Clearly among some 'micros' volumes are so small it's hardly worth the bother. Leave it sp moves to indicate the vol nos but maybe that's asking too much.

Down start on Wall, called atm 300 lower at the bell. Sentiment is horrid made worse by all these new covid rules out today showcased by the ftse tumbling near 150 mid morning by Man**** calling the situation grave.
Seems not only is your money at risk, your life also.
