Mr. O’Leary load and proud in the Mail this morning and can’t find fault with what he says. Unfortunately it is EasyJet for me next Friday early as they are half the price of Rya. Two days of pool and villa cleaning and that’s it for me for the next 90 days.
The UK spring has battered me into submission.

Great news from Spain which can only benefit Rya. I will book a trip to the Canaries today. I can’t take anymore of this crap weather. It won’t bother me because I won’t return for at least 3 months but the 10 days quarantine and two tests after arrival back in the UK will put off short term holiday makers. Once Spain goes on the green list it will be a scramble to get a flight.

Travel to Spain is very restricted and going on holiday is not a reason to travel.

Very interesting article in the Mail this morning regarding BA and the future. I like it and it’s good to see they recognise changes are required and are proactive.

mararab. £320 is the tip of the iceberg. A test will have to be paid for prior to arriving in the UK plus one more PCR after arriving. Add another £200 per person after the holiday.

In my opinion tomorrow’s results will not move this sp too much either way. Everyone knows they are not going to be pretty so there will be no surprise. Also I am of the opinion that at the best regardless of green, amber or red zones , one PCR test minimum will be required for a trip overseas and this will be in place until at least the end of the year.

Wrong again. Most second homes for UK residents are in Spain and its territories. As of now and until at least the end of May no one from the UK without a residential green card is allowed into Spain. Having a second home will not get you in. Also the rules are different now and a limit of 90 days for a non EU resident is applied. Unless changes occur aircraft will stop flying to Spanish territory or reduce to a skeleton service.

GhostFace. You have been well and truly done over. The last time a I travelled to the Canaries I paid £120 for a PCR test required for entry. Shop around and they are cheaper. To enter the UK only an antigen test is required and this costs approx €40. The two PCR tests during the 10 day quarantine period in the UK can be bought for
£210 in total. Everything is explained on the government web site.
Now anyone who thinks they will be able to travel to Spain and the Islands from 17th May, forget it. The Spanish government have announced they will not accept non EU citizens into the country until at least the end of May.

The rules relating to when, where and if we can travel together with the tests associated with the rules will be announced definitely in the next two weeks. Until the announcement is made by the government all talk is second guessing. Obviously the number of tests required and the costs associated will be a major factor in air travel returning to some normality.

Logic. “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing” The “green” airliners on the design boards of Boeing and Airbus will not be battery powered. Hydrogen powered aircraft will be the future. The major aircraft manufacturers are well down the road on this technology and prototypes will be appearing in approx 2025. I am at present involved in the conversion of a 13 seater prop aircraft from oil based fuel to hydrogen and this will be flying this time next year. So will we see hydrogen powered aircraft before the end of this decade, most definitely.

Just for you big- blue I suggest you read the article on the front page of the FT this morning. This is because you are the only poster on here who believes business class travel is going to boom once travel restrictions are are lifted. In a nutshell for interested parties the article says that the major European banks will more than halve their business travel from pre pandemic days when normal travel resumes. They site the growth and ease of electronic communications now available.
