Hope. Smithy talks through his arse. I live in the Canaries most of the time and have done since lockdown. I live in a quiet part of Tenerife and I can tell you it is a fact that there are as many overseas visitors now as pre pandemic. In the more popular parts of the island it is the same. Just check on Flightradar24 and see the number of aircraft coming down here. As for testing costs all airlines are doing packages now and it is possible to get a pre leaving and second day test for £40 total. This will reduce. Even if it doesn’t it is a small price to pay to get away from that crappy weather which is round the corner over there.

I have a friend who since the beginning of lockdown travelled everywhere by air. He then of course had no alternative to then use the road. Well last Sunday he resumed air travel and flew from Glasgow to Heathrow with BA. He got the last seat available on one of three flight on that route during the day. I know the big money makers are travel to the States and SA etc. but we will get there.

As usual, sweet FA to do with IAG and a load of *******s. Go and get yourself a life.

Having just returned from my every Saturday walk into the village of Los Gigantes I can definitely say the numbers now are pre pandemic like. I have done this walk every Saturday fo the last 15 months and in that time I have seen the lows and now normality. Now someone tell me how these people are getting here, walking!

I came to the Canaries when I left South Africa last July. Except for a couple of swift visits to the UK (not by choice) I have seen it here through lockdown to present. I have seen a remarkable turn around in numbers over the last month. Brits are flocking in and it is now very similar to pre virus days. From my balcony I can see the aircraft descending and Easy, Ryanair and Tui are coming down here in numbers.

Now as I spend most of my time in Spanish territories I am particularly interested in Wednesdays statement regarding travel by Shapps which contained a very ambiguous comment. At present prior to the return to the UK a test is required. This test can be a PCR or Antigen. A PCR costs €130, Antigen €40. Needless to say everyone gets an Antigen test. Now to confuse everyone he says it is advisable when returning from Spain to have a PCR. There are 1 million Brits in Spain at the moment so for quite a few the extra expense has not been budgeted for and is not affordable. I know this will effect BA less but will certainly impact the LCC’s. All that is asked for is clarity.

It is spelt repatriation! Never mind that. What a waste of oxygen.
