I agree if a deal should happen then the banks, in particular, stand to benefit. I can be patient if the dividend income holds up with RBS. With hindsight buying when exdiv worked well. Planning to use dividends to diversify my portfolio.

And so is Brexit, just goes to show how we can be mislead. Never understood how RBS performed the trick of taking over NatWest and then managed to destroy my retirement fund. Perhaps it will come good and my grandchildren will benefit.

Spot on JABH, nothing naïve about it, not just for rbs the whole UK needs a deal, except that some are in denial. 'still of the opinion that a deal agreed between the 2 parties will benefit the banks in particular. It would make the economy stronger and reduce the risk of companies going bust all of which matters for our shares. Keep fingers crossed.

In response I wish big investors would pump millions into RBS then I could take out some serious profits, however our wishing for it is not likely to make it happen. In the short term RBS is seen as risky by bigger investors and those are the ones that matter unfortunately. Lets hope RBS rides out the storm and remains in good health and we see a healthy picture in Feb '20.

Aged moment

Mondays movement was pleasing I'm hopeful we get to 188p this week and put me into profit on my recent purchase of RBS ignoring the brokers fees/taking account of the dividends. If it gets back to 202p by mid Sept it will mean buying before ex div has worked well. GLA

Expect some volatility between now and the end of October, a statement of the obvious. Hoping to see a bounce so for the first time I can experiment with actively dealing in the share. Any thoughts, anyone seen anything to indicate how the markets will open. I wont be able to look until Monday evening just hope its a pleasant experience with no nasty surprises. Until now been in for the long haul and managed to see fantastic rise and awful crash, so now hopeful but no facts to back it . Optimistic as the rain comes down and I'm getting ready to cycle 200 kilometers, around Kent, starting 6 am Monday. GLA

Vestor seeing it in black and white shows "they don't know" too wide a range to be meaningful.
Right now it is not a great concern to me. However I am concerned about what is the future for our economy which is going to impact RBS now that it is focused on the home market.

At least not saying sell.

Keep fingers crossed - not helped by negative broker views -maybe the coming week will have some helpful news .

Cash is great for liquidity but the interest is rubbish /non existent when you want to keep it to buy back in. I have found that Premium Bonds work quite well when you put in the max of £50,000 and you can get your money out fairly swiftly. PB's are great if you think you may say go back in with half of your money, but keep back half for longer. Who knows you might win a million.

Just read on BBC site our bank comes bottom, whereas NatWest perform satisfactorily. Some may think this a mess.

Fridays rarely do much for this share, so we shall have to wait for good news on Monday. GLA

Yes this is ex div, however the fall is way beyond that. The gap between RBS and Barclays has narrowed significantly as an example. The world jitters does not explain it either, I could swear but too old for that. Good luck to those that stayed out, more fool me.
