Just stayed up, still believe it will be nearer to 210 by Friday and the payment of divs; if much of the money is invested in buying rbs then it could be a very good day.

Fird as there are a fixed number of shares then the buy and sell figures should surely match. If more shares were bought then today more will have to be sold to give those buyers their shares, and therefore putting pressure on the share to rise. I know it is me being very simplistic, but 'want to properly understand so my decisions can be improved.

Sometimes they are buy as today, or sell. Today a buy of 11m does that mean anything, does it mean that there will be a rise in the sp in the morning. Can someone explain. My research has not given clarity. In the absence of contradiction I bet 2p it will rise by 8.30 a.m.

Annoying to some, you get lulled into thinking its going up,up and away, only for it to bring you down to earth. Oh well it is sunny here so go and pick plums, cook them, add to the freezer. By which time the sp should have risen.

Perhaps if you want to worry then look at the rise in the oil price and why, war could be the outcome. Brexit is of no consequence in comparison. Scary at least my children are too old to be called up and my grandchildren too young. GLA.

Like your thinking, starting to think that Brokers are sometimes simply guessing with very little substance behind their opinions. A little surprised that we have not heard a bit more bad news re PPI so we must be careful not to get our hopes up. Also our former Prime Minister has his book out which gives more focus on the Brexit negatives. Keep your fingers and toes crossed, then we may see 220 plus 14 = 234 on 20th. GLA

JABH my way of looking at the ex div write down is more from the investor viewpoint i.e. the day before ex div you would if you bought shares get 14p per share whereas if you bought 24 hours later you lose the div but you can buy the shares more cheaply. I chose to buy early to get the div but in hindsight I should have bought when ex div. Your point is well made and I expect the sp to rise next week and continue to rise. However this ignores Trump and everything. In the autumn/winter the shares can sometimes be in the doldrums until such time as investors start looking for signs as to how the business is doing. A statement should be due late Oct.

From what I read the assets of rbs are worth more like £3 a share if you discount any other considerations, for me now to see us get to that level with two dividends each year would be brilliant, could we see that by the end of the financial year?

What I've noticed is I go and work hard on the garden for 2 hours and come back in and the share is down, it makes me grumpy. I think all shares tend to fall toward the end of the week as some want to take profits, and bad news seems to come out at the weekend.

Bruce, please take a fresh look at the M&G Recovery fund. Like you I admired this fund, and put some monies in, and quite honestly it has given a rubbish result. I have stayed with it for more than 10 years. GLA

However I think we may see RBS in particular resist and still move up, how about 201 by close.

Around the time of the Millennium it was way more than £5-50 and now it's not even 20p in comparison. But I shall be happy to see it get to 250,300,350,400 and so on if it keeps paying a dividend with a small increase year on year. Allowing that some of us went 10 years without a div being paid I know to be grateful now. Roll on the day when the government does not own any shares in RBS

I was hoping that it would get to this level by 20.9.19. Must avoid getting greedy, perhaps it will be at 220p by then!

Although not shown on here the sp is up 4p already today, cannot understand what has changed to justify the movement. Am I dreaming?
