If Boris does get a majority it is likely to lead to a rise in the UK markets and bank shares in particular; it could be short lived. Lets hear your explanation. Matlot/Amers my view is that banks as a group are under pressure to catch up with how society is moving. To give an example, the pension entitlement of the top dogs, at last Lloyds are grasping the nettle. When we invest in MTRO its a good idea to look at possible threats to the business, whereas some on here seem to think that its worth £7 a share and therefore given time it MUST rise to that level. IMHO a wealth warning is called for i.e. there is no MUST about it. The older posters here, could be wiser, and certainly likely to have lost money on other shares, and therefore know underlying value is only a guide. NOT A DERAMP. I can see it rising to £2.55 soonish( giving an option of recovering my loss). GLA

bransonbull it makes you think; if they have a sound plan then the premises will not be on a long lease, as IMO they may not be needed by 2030. A bank needs to be able to reinvent itself to keep up with changes in how money is spent/used. In theory MTRO are in a better position to keep up, indeed lead the way than the old banks. Some on here will assume this post is an effort to deramp whereas I want to stimulate new discussion. GL

sw10000 there is too much doom and gloom on here today when the sp has not moved much. Come Monday there will be a new perspective and we are likely to see it closer to 200, possibly above that level IMO.

Stocks are generally down and MTRO is not out of line. This sp could be above 200 next week. GLA

IMHO the likes of Lloyds/RBS can expect to rise by as much as 10/15% if Boris has a 'real' majority, and for MTRO it could be a bigger event. For those who are out of MTRO the 12th Dec. could be the day to buy. GLA

Lets take the person who has seen their investment drop from £10,000 to £1,900, they are entitled to be very pi??ed off; and then you have someone who invested £2250, which is now valued at £1900 and might be grumpy. Asking each to have patience rather misses a point, and therefore how do you offer hope to either or both?

It is an uncertain world and nowhere more so than Hong Kong, for me this means a cloud hangs over the performance of the Pru. My position is that I would like to add to my small holding of Pru shares but will wait for a more settled picture. I have bought more MNG as a safe bet.

my learning experience was with RBS which proved one thing that problems can be hidden just like an iceberg; with RBS some serious probs were apparent but just when you thought they were resolved another would spring up. An sp of 150 does not bother me if I am convinced it will get back to 250 within 12 months, if not then the money can be put to better use and the loss recouped. DYOR is all well and good but …….. Amers/illbetbuck I am trying to talk myself out of selling MTRO. Unlike some on here I have no idea what is happening with MTRO. My expectation would have been that the sp would have crawled back to around the 300 level by now. Cud would tell me to get lost and sell, but I am impressed with image of MTRO. The way the sp is moving it could be down around 150 IMHO. But WHY?

Lets for a moment assume Boris has a majority come the 13th, at that point I think the big banks will see a rise in their sp, but will it take MTRO along for the ride?
Must we expect an sp of 150 somewhere between now and the 12th?

tourdecut, I'm interested in your view. Are you saying that world markets are going to see a bear market? Yes there is a lot of uncertainty but interest rates are very low hence stocks appeal to investors. Can you expand on the reason for going into cash.
