Mick, in addition to allJC’s valid points, don’t underestimate the difficulties of doing business in KRG.
We’ve thought cashflow stabilised several times over the last 8 years or so (hence the large amounts owing).
KRG and Baghdad argument is way more than a “spat.” Try hatred: political, tribal and religious.
Local optics. A cash starved KRG is paying out massive revenues to a foreign company instead of funding local jobs, schools, healthcare, public services etc etc. It makes sense for the local population in the long term but guess it is a difficult short term sell locally.
A whole different approach to communication between western world and locals.

It’s a tricky place hence need for diversification and why the majors have been exiting over last decade.

The buybacks certainly improve financial ratios and hence Directors’ bonuses.
Shell (and many others) have been doing them at the expense of raising dividends to previous levels for years. No noticeable impact on share price.
I’d rather they used the money for acquisitions or if they don’t need it just give it back to us as a special dividend.

Making money is nice, but the bigger picture here is that there are several AIM companies (VLS, EQT and Getech amongst many others) with technology to both reduce landfill and generate green energy.
For the sake of the planet and our kids someone needs to assist them expand more quickly. Repeated minor fund raises and amateur project management isn’t going to do it.

What is attractive for a takeover? Debt is low now but only because they have sold off their prime source of income / profit and not replaced it.
Profit going forward is going to be a fraction of previous years.

Think the special dividend will have to wait for a positive arbitration ruling over BB PSC.
Given uncertain cash inflows and cost of borrowing, holding a cash pot seems wise to me.

Surely the most important topic to discuss is how these tech heavy but finance weak AIM companies get decent external financial and project delivery support.
Without these they’re all just interesting science projects with no easy route to market or ability to scale up as much as needed.

Can’t see many savings accounts paying more than 3.5% at present so why would people switch away from a 7 or 8% dividend?
Being totally risk averse just guarantees you lose on the difference between inflation and savings rates (so about 6% today).

Sorry meant EQT - Genel actually doing well today so got excited.

The financial experts at Genel have been pretty poor at negotiating terms to date. Having to negotiate anything from current position of desperation is not going to be pretty or good for current shareholders. Unless we all fund a rights issue.

Think I’d prefer him to an expensive outsider who would take months to get going.
Cash flow has been steady over last 6 or so months, no write downs, no disasters, no falling out with KRG so he hasn’t made any mistakes.
Perhaps slow and steady in the right direction is what we need, somalialand gives us much needed geographical diversification and we’re holding a pot of cash for small acquisitions.
Of course a takeover at 2014 share price would also be nice :-)

HL just got it right first time many years ago.

We’ll I’m glad you’ve quickly found out it’s differing service from different brokers.
It took adv11 and his cat about 100 posts (blaming UK/US tax law, DEC, DEC IR, posters on here) and 2 years to finally realise it was his fault for choosing the wrong broker.
We kept telling him but he thought it was bullying. Perhaps he’ll believe you :-)

Have to agree with C909, if the RNS wording was more clear and simple we wouldn’t have to debate and speculate.
The RNS is supposed to inform the market, not just raise a load of questions and debate.

Several share buys in the millions (up to 5M) from 1000 onwards today. Someone can see a light at the end of the tunnel (just hope it's not a train coming).

Swazers, no-one doubted your ability to guess that an AIM stock might go down.
Where your credibility suffered was your continued refusal to answer how charting could predict events like today’s interims (or in a parallel universe a brilliant set of completed projects and a dividend).
Sometimes the why is as important as the what. Though obviously with perfect hindsight you can make that up.

Got 'em at .388 eventually but took about 20 attempts to even get a quote for a relatively small buy.
