I see EUR is powering ahead again today. Not invested and dont understand the story but it could be that some punters are dumping their second favourite stocks to pile into EUR. Would explain the crazy start to the day.

Just picked up 1/4 at 1.63 and 1/4 at 1.65. It was said to be offered at 1.61 at the time but only for 10k!!
First time I have thought the MMs were behaving poorly. But I got a goodish price, so I am happy.

I can sell as much as I like, but I cant buy 100k. Very dodgy this morning.

GGP has a mkt cap of £60myn, Newcrest a mkt cap of many billions.
So which share price will it affect most in percentage terms?

Has Nossal just said in an interview something that will bind NC to not buying any further shares, or increasing its stake in Solg, 'any time soon'?

Plus the $8.7byn added today, plus whatever is added in mre3. Just might get to $100byn. And a mkt cap of about 0.5% of that...... go figure as the septics say.

I understand all that, and as I own a shedload of these I am no less bullish (long term), but I think we will run out of money by the end of November.

But the elephant in the room is where is the cash coming from to keep things going. He will probably need to address this, this week or all this great press and these announcements will have little impact. Get some cash in and I wont have to get my gun..........

Does anyone know whether NC will have to stop any work in the summer? We know GGP had to but they didn’t have a camp or a facility close by.

I am with you there Jersey. Not only would GGP not get a premium listing on the main market but everybody would have to pay stamp on all purchases. So if they do change listing make sure you have bought all you need on AIM first!!!

I was watching an old NM presentation and NM said they have the drill permits but not the water permits. He also said they intend to put two rigs on each of their top five sites, but didn’t mention which sites.
I think he did said it was all imminent, naturally!

Has there been any media discussion in Oz on NC/Hav/GGP since Thursdays announcements?
If GGP need to raise any more funds in the future it looks like it should be done via an Oz listing. I just don’t think there is enough of an appetite here in UK at the moment. Probably too obsessed by you know what (not the rugby!)

As I see it:
If and when NC deem the discovery to be a commercial success, GGP will then have some options.
They could sell 5% to NC as they are contracted to do and invest that in the mine development plus debt or some kind of royalty finance. Or they could sell it all at this stage at the agreed 5% valuation.
Of course imho the best solution would to get some value out of their other assets and use that to finance their share of the mine development.
As a 25% investor in Hav they won’t have much say in what NC decide to do, but NC are such a great company, that wouldn’t faze me at all.
I absolutely agree with the person who suggested that NC and GGP have a relationship which would preclude hostile intentions.

NTTG. I think spread betting is a bit more appropriate for the FTSE100 and the like, than a £60myn mkt cap co like GGP!

IMHO, Spread betting is a very expensive way to short and IG, or whoever you use, will have to hedge this spread bet by shorting so they will need the stock loan. Unless, like MMs, they can find someone to take the other side of your spread bet, that is.
Certainly not for widows and orphans.

Firstly you will need to find someone who will lend you the stock that you are shorting. Probably need to be done through a large brokerage company who has a stockloan dept. You could trade an otc derivative, but that just transfers the responsibility for stock loan on to the person selling you the otc. Common in the US, much less so here.
