NC could buy us out and, w/o massive institutional support,there would be little GH or anyone could do to stop it, as there just isn’t a blocking group. PIs are fickle and wouldn’t see the big prize or the long term.
The main counter argument would be that NC could be accused of infanticide, in the W/o ggp they wouldn’t be in Hav, and telfer would be on the way to scrapyard. So if they want to play nice guys they may choose to keep ggp, take a significant stake in ggp and use ggp as their exploration arm in the Paterson/pilbara/WA. I would vote for that, but just my musings.....

To add to CBs post. I have a contact who has done a lot of work for NC as a consultant. He explained the way NC work (and maybe all miners for all I know). They have a model and an expectation of what they will find. As long as the results are within the parameters of the model they just keep going. Only when they see something that doesnt conform to the model do they stop to re-evaluate. Now this could be good or bad, but they tweak the model (probably something that is happening constantly in real time) and then get going again.
Given that we dont appear to have seen/heard of many stoppages (thanks to Paddys great pictures), one would assume that NC are still happy with what they are seeing.

I dont think it would happen for the reasons stated MS, but there wouldnt be anything stopping NC and GGP from renegotiating the JV to change the hurdles, timeframes and decisions. It should be mutually beneficial if everything was good at Hav.

Good points everyone and thank you. NC is nothing like the size of BHP so they wont have the ability ($ or manpower) to be all things to all people. ATM they have their hands pretty full with their current assets and farm ins, so I think their help maybe limited to technical block cave stuff.
I see Alpala becoming a BHP asset with a minority for Solg and NC, but thats just a guess, no more than that.

From memory the main doc would be when BHP bought in a year ago, though there may be a NC document from a year earlier. I am pretty sure there is a standstill agreement after each got to 15% in that they cant buy more w/o Solgs approval. Any unilateral move over 15% would be read as hostile and releases the other party from their standstill.
Its probably all on their website, though I dont have the time to access it today.

I think that if NC had bought that would have taken them over their 15% threshold, and potentially caused a bidding war.
Does NM want to deal with a 3rd major miner, who presumably would want parity with the other two and if so that might have upset the other two as the new company would have bought in at half price. Just thinking out loud.

Colonel, BHP had the right to buy in the market to take them to 15%, as per the agreement a year ago. They have chosen to do this by buying new shares.
My guess is that inviting BHP to help with the legwork is probably a combo of BHP being their preferred helper plus maybe NC are fairly busy with their huge potential at Havieron. I would have thought Solg will need NC help when it comes to designing the block cave as NC are world leaders in this expertise.
I think, and I am not 100% sure, that if either went through 15% it would release the other from their agreement, and this way NM doesnt have to get waivers and a new agreement set up.

To have a view on the sp, you must have to have a view on what the Hav deposit will be. That atm is a guess, and so is the sp.

While I would love to see them pay 45p again, I would be amazed if it was over 30p. Not sure why they would want to put a director on the board, unless they dont like the way things are going. They probably know all they need to know anyhow and not having a board seat gives them more flexibility.
However all this is def good news, even if we are going to get diluted a bit more.

I think they took a combo of mkt cap and mre and pea. It’s a bit of a dogs breakfast to be honest.
