BBD the sale of 57m shares was on behalf of clients who could not or would not hold MNG in their portfolios......it was not the bank shorting the stock.
It is not uncommon to do this exercise to tidy up ownership and remove lots of small holdings from the register. eg I got a few Nedbank shares when OLd Mutual restructured.....the sales costs would have been about 10% so when the broker offered a bulk sale I took it.
I am not sure clients get the best deal in these situations as a big block trade can be seen coming and will get a poor price. My learning is to make sure all holdings are of economic size which may mean I sell before a future split, esp where the new company is a foreign entity.

The ADS have nearly reached $23 and with decent volume....which is more promising.

Now listened and agree with the summary but I wish he would not use the breakthrough therapy designation.......that did not work out well last time and can only disappoint if that does not materialise......having said that there appears to be a steady pipeline of news to come in 2020 and beyond that should keep us savolating if you excuse the play on words.

There is another concern about the sustainability of the dividend in an industry that is facing into significant fee reductions.
The dividend is of zero worth if the SP does not rise again for the next dividend (IMB as example). Growth promised by management is required.....then the SP will rise and the Yield fall.

Sounds like the Savo news is the next big event presumably and we can look forward To another positive data read out before the NDA.

Mng is now trading with a significantly higher yield than competitors whose shares have all risen 10-15% recently. SLA 7.2% Aviva 6.8% Lgen 5.8% jup 4.8% the shares are due a rerating.

In the future SP progression may depend on the growth promised by management. The 3yr capital plan will demonstrate this.....I anticipate peak expectations will be in 2-3 years time.....I intend to enjoy that ride and reinvest dividends in the meantime.

1.68 booked at Q3 with record Q3 sales. 2.18 if Q4 is the same profit as Q3. 2.13 if equal to Q1.

Miner21 it is worthwhile reading the RNS for the cos you invest in....they cover a range of topics many are routine announcements, eg change in directors, changes in shareholding’s over 5%.
They will also highlight results and profit warnings......most platforms will bring them to your attention as alerts or news for the companies. You may also find some companies allow you to register for an email alert.

It is v unlikely you can profit from them as the market makers will have the information immediately available to them......but it will alert you to changes in the company you may want to be aware of.

You can trade out if you want but Pru is quite volatile with 2-3% daily changes common....some will be lucky in their timing others won’t be.

Me. I have a long term view and will be holding.

BBD is correct in the approximation of the current yield - it is high 7% near 8%
The special dividend is as you say not relevant, The final dividend is about your 5.4% yield however you need to include the expected interim dividend in the annual yield.

Always better to have a market listing in the company home market.
AIM and NASDAQ have provided a market while the home market was not accessible (except via CKHH)
Time for HCM to be at home where it’s products, health benefits and commercials can be more easily seen and valued. The US will come round but will need FDA approval of products to fully value the business.

I would expect the combined dividend to be increased to help the launch of the two companies.
The consumer healthcare will carry a lot of the debt and will have a higher dividend yield than the pharma co. The reduced debt in the pharma co will allow both investment and a dividend payment. Win win...expect 5-10% uplift as a result.

Look to Pru MNG as an example

Always buy when the US market is open.....usually there is a much lower spread.

AIA reported flat 9m sales with a fall in HK business matched by growth across the rest of Asia.
There seemed to be quite a relief in the market and shares rose 4%.
Not sure if Pru will give a Q3 number, but market pessimism over HK and implications for new business may be overdone.
