@ElllteInv 'The shorter positions are big risks for them.'
While I hope you're right...
On this occsion I do think the shorts have it right. Mid next week, Wood Group will drop out of the FTSE250 and join the small caps and the race to sell will commence. The Wood Group sell off will likley start from today (already down 1.54% as of the time of this post) and continue until the announcement mid next week...and at that point, the Wood Group share price will drop hard. The shorts have looked into their tea leaves, and have read this right and will benefit. But as usual, none of this is rocket science.
If the CEO of Wood Group has any positive news, then he ought to release it ASAP. This will reassure stakeholders and shareholders alike...and maybe gather enough support in the Wood Group share price to stop the inevitable plunge into the small caps. In which case, it will mainly be sunshine, rainbows and roses.
On the positive, for any Wood Group long-term shareholders, it will be a chance to average down with a 'cheeky' top up a few days after the plunge into the small caps. At which point, the Wood Group share price will likely be circa 44-48p.
For those who think I am a de-ramper (of which there seem to be a few on this WG discussion board), I am a Wood Group investor and happy to hold. That said, I am also a realist and a pragmatic investor, and this has served me very well over the years. I mentioned earlier that Wood Group is somewhat of a gamble, which remains true - and is evidenced by the dramatic swings in this share price of late. If you like roller-coaster rides, then, roll-up, roll-up...and buckle in for the ride of the century! I just hope this roller-coaster ride doesn't turn out to be the 'Big Dipper!'
