Buzzards eat live prey. Vultures eat dead animals. Given Wood Group is still alive (and hopefully far from dead), I called the shorts 'Buzzards'. If Wood Group was as dead as your girlfriend's Christmas Turkey last year, then I would have called the shorts 'Vultures'. Buzzards fly alone, in pairs and in small groups. Vultures often fly in groups (called 'kettles'). Buzzards and Vultures can fly (they both have wings) and can swoop down on their live prey or dead carcass pretty much whenever they feel like it. Buzzards look quite fine. Whereas Vultures are quite ugly (and resemble your last girlfriend after a few drinks, stumbling out of the nightclub late on a Saturday night).

@Garonne If you're impatient, then Prudential as an investment stock is not for you.

Prudential is a slow burner in terms of share price increase from the recent low of circa £6.05. As I'vementioned before, Prudential's fundamentals are very strong (actually rock solid) and growing. Prudential's share price rise will slowly follow over time.

Baron Investment does not impress me. Always late to the party.

Yes indeed. I'm happy to wait, so I'll only add more Zephyr shares after drilling has started.

What I like about CH is that he keeps shareholders informed and up to date with events. I wish all CEOs on the LSE were that way inclined!

Funding due to be signed off later this month, drilling to start thereafter Q1. Good. No unexpected/nasty surprises.

Of note is that the warrants have been extended to 30 September 2026. Smart move to extend the warrants rather than cancel them. The drilling commences Q1 2025 - and based on the successful tests completed so far, the oil should flow like liquid gold in Q2. If so, by the end of Q1-O2 the Zephyr share price will easily hit 8-9p and rising, and the warrants will be snapped up, so a bonus £6.7 million cash for Zephyr for further investment or pay off debt (maybe some for dividends).

Looking forward confirmation late this month that finance in secured, drilling equipment booked, and all set for Q1.

@SavageOne. Yes a quick win on SSP for me. The SSP shorts will likley have to close their positions soonish, so your luck may be in there too. I have to discagree about Capita, but we'll have to leave that for the Capita discussion board. Bye for now.

@SavageOne Just sold out of SSP a tidy profit - only invested about 2pm yesterday (£40,000 at circa £1.62). Although it has potential to continue I see bigger opportunities elsewhere at the moment. Best of luck with SSP though. And take it easy on Capita it actually has good prospects - I think I'll be a turncoat and invest back in there prior to the results due on 17 December! Shhh don't tell anyone at Capita! Lol

I expected SSP to announce sound results. However, the results are far stronger than expected. Revenues up, profits up, margins up, dividend up, net debt lower than expected, cash down slightly (understandably so due to acquisitions and investments).

Busy Christmas travel and shopping season is here, so momentum to continue.

SSP share price should rise nicely from here.

@SavageKeyboard...What did I read right? You actually said Capita will go up after the results on 17 December?! SavageOne the eternal Capita-pessimist, you need to get yourself off to a Doctor pronto...you're clearly not well! SavageGarden, a ramper of Capita...who would have thought?! Lol

Er, if you meant me - JO (not 'RO') - the fact is that there are three shorts (aka buzzards) that have open short positions at a combined 4.48%. These are the shorts that we know of, there are probably more. As an investor I like to be aware of shorts in a company - commonsense and all that. For the record, I don't like shorts, never have, never will...not only are shorts 'buzzards', they are also 'fleas on cardigans'. I hope this clarifies exactly what I meant by 'the buzzards are circling'. Obviously, the sooner the buzzards are seen off, the better...however, that will probably only happen after the review is known and an RNS is released, for better or worse.

Been out and about today, so a nice surprise tonight to see the unexpected uplift in the WG share price. It seems the rise was due soley to the RNS on the equity swap. Happy to take that! Lol

Tomorrow, we'll know if WG stays in the FTSE250 or falls into the small caps. Be prepared and buckled in for the ride...mind you, with the WG share price of late, rollercoaster rides are pretty normal! The good news is that if there is a drop tomorrow and Wednesday (when the movements in promotion and relegation are formally announced), at least the WG share price is alot higher as of COB today (circa 57p) than it was COB Friday (circa 52p), so a bit more cushioning is built in. Maybe over the next couple of days we'll get lucky and the WG share price will maintain circa current levels!

@SavageOne Lol I didn't follow you to SSP, I actually saw your earlier post here after I invested. Anyway, I agree that the SSP Group results should be sound. If so, the share price will surge upwards over the next few days-weeks.

Just invested £40,000 in SSP Group a few minutes ago. I expect a strong set of results tomorrow. If so, I will definately add (i.e. before the big rise in SSP sales over the Christmas travel period) as this stock seems cheap.

Funny that SavageKeyboard and I seem to share the same opnion (for once) on SSP stock!

Meanwhile the shorts (buzzards) are still circling over Wood Group with no signs of leaving as yet...

China's economic stimulus has helped manufacturing (and other sectors) and combined with demand from US for China-made products (prior to Trump's possible/probably increase in China tarrifs) means China's economy is bouncing back. No doubt China is looking at other markets to off-set any Trump tarrifs.

Agreed. The update on 17 December will show all is on the right track and the turaround more or less completed. This should result in an uplift in share price to 21-22p. The full results in mid March 2025 will clearly show the proof in the pudding and the share price should surge to 30p if not more. Anyone invested at the current share price to 19p should be due a windfall...if they hold for mid March that is!
