RE: No short position changes4 Dec 2024 19:13
@Icecool - well I thought it was funny. Don't worry Laura2022 has filtered me (and 50% of the other posters here), so she'll never know. Lol
I don't agreee Icecool that all investors everywhere suddenly came to their senses that Wood Group is under-valued. The fact is that Wood Group is priced for risk. That won't change until the outcome of the review is known. If you're right, then the share price will climb almost every day until it reaches £1.10 or so. I can't see that happening.
It could be the avoidence of the FTSE250 demotion to small caps, but to rise over 10% in one day, seems an over-reaction.
I would say that on balance, it's probably down to the RNS issued by JP Morgan on the Equity Swap. Some ill-informed investors may think this has a material impact on Wood Group as a company or the share price, and therefore purchased on the basis of that...and as the share price increased...fear of missing out.
Of course, in the absence of any news/updates, it could be a combination of all three.
Just left-field, it could be that the CEO of Wood Group has been 'encouraged' to step down, and word is out. If Wood Group were to issue an RNS to that effect either as a seperate RNS or in the next results, then the share price would spike! IMO
