Ade, not meant as a pop as that was probably down to my interpretation!
I don’t think I ever said get off the board as that’s not my style or indeed down to me although in those days I was confused about you being a holder or not a holder…..let’s move on please.
The buy now yield is that but my averages are just under and just over 3 quid not allowing for dividends received so I guess that makes my return around 8%?
Ade, if you perceive someone has a pop at you don’t let it get to you and don’t take it personally. Your posts do come over as muddled at times and that’s not meant as a criticism. I’m interested in why a buyback popped up as it doesn’t happen very often and am curious about the timing of it.
When all said and done I find it more interesting engaging in conversations about HFEL because it’s a big holding for me. Catch up later if you’re about.
More than happy to be friendly going forwards!
I’d imagine he’s got a few ideas of his own and maybe doing a few repurchases is one of them with the low SP as we all are very aware of plus the switch from premium to discount to nav must be uncomfortable for the management. Time will tell.
This is an opportunity, an olive branch if you like to discuss two HFEL facts on the HFEL board rather than get drawn into a regurgitation of ‘he said, she said’ which I’m at pains to move on from!
I think it’s positive because directors generally don’t buy into a sinking ship and companies tend to buyback shares if they think they’re too cheap…agree or disagree?
Well I do keep asking the same question mate!
So you’d rather play a game of he said, she said than talk about the director buy and the buyback?
So what are your thoughts about the director buy and the buyback RNS’d yesterday?
there are some very knowledgeable characters on here and there doesn’t need to be any conflict, name calling, or smart ****d putdowns when frankly we could all get on and swap ideas and thoughts don’t you think?
i think sometimes you get too wrapped up in the management side almost like a disgruntled ex employee and any positivity on hfel gets railroaded by negativity and all the hogwash about dividend washing etc sounds more like a conspiracy theory!
no ones happy about the sp but it’s the underlying holdings values and they’ve paid the dividend throughout and those are facts which don’t deserve derision just because i’m not joining in.
i’m not looking for arguments or justification for opinions on here and implications i’m a paid agent of the company, told to move to china etc will be treated with the contempt they deserve.
the opportunity here is being squandered imo!
Hi Troj, already sorted out your prezzie bud, I’ll drop in in lol.
You’re right, I’m defo an outdoors type and currently working inside on a project and it’s doing my head in when I could be planting, building, fencing, concreting etc and this afternoon I was painting ceilings aaaaarghhhh!
Have a good weekend mate.
Hope everyone doing okay?
Had a reasonable week on divs, bought more ecora res and bats plus topped up some of the infrastructure funds.
All quiet at the land apart from frosts and rain and more rain!!
The one common denominator with anyone who posts here has an interest in shares, prices, movements and debate therein and there are clearly some very opinionated personalities on here and if we can lose the point scoring and verging on insults posts maybe since we all share an interest in this and no doubt other trusts and individual holdings this could become a more ‘go to’ board and whether we disagree or agree to disagree, I believe everyone who’s posted here over time has something they could share and add to the mix?
The recent director buy and the buyback out of nowhere seems to have been missed and I think is relevant for discussion rather than negativity.
My posting in lse began around the financial crash and although sporadic gained me some useful tips and knowledge and friends over the years but all I see here is people having a pop at each other.
Just a thought!
And a director buy, we’re not the only ones who think it’s a good buy at these levels!
A few years ago kipping overnight in an old caravan was luxury up there but I must be getting older and less hardy lol.
There’s a gas fire in there and I do plant pot heaters but wary of running the gas overnight as there’s mice living in there too(except when we stay they seek alternative accommodation)!
Exploring the arctic as a hobby hmmmmm! Each to their own!
I must admit my following of the oil price is more about how much I pay for diesel at the pumps these days mate, I’ve got bp pref shares which are now in profit but I guess that’s down to interest rates which seem to effect most of my stuff in property reits. Direct oilers I’ve got a few of most things at both ends of the scale but nothing that significant.
Absolutely Baltic out there at the moment, stayed up at the land in the caravan recently and been making excuses not to lately lol
I won’t bore you with the details but sorting the new pad out to include my old mum and all that, alas no lottery win or big holding rocketing, most of mine are running out of fuel and paying a few divs whilst they drop in value lol.
Definitely something wrong there, get in and it’s red or black I guess!
Evening all, hope everyone doing okay and navigating the ebbs and flows of the shares! Bought a few Halfords yesterday, nearly averaged down on petrofac but didn’t because we’ve just bought another property(thankfully) and busy with trades and everything associated with a big project trying to figure out the ones who are worth investing effort and money and time into from the ones who either want to muck you around or rip you off whilst doing most of it ourselves lol!
All quiet at the land, leaves fallen and wildlife digging in for winter which seems to be on us very quickly since I last posted in!
Same message on income and surprisingly honest transparency about ‘how it is’.
Recovery on the constituent holdings values, get paid to wait. Nothing more to say really, good luck all.
Interesting reading there and worth bearing in mind when it says about consumer spending returning that there are a lot of them!
I don’t recall seeing a 10p discount to nav on these before so there’s clearly some upside short term.
A friend of mine has switched all his divs to scrip/drip reinvests this year which is a great longterm view with these prices.
Cheers for that mate. Makes sens. GLM
