Each to their own ponds I guess Troj, mine is full of bullrushes and water lillies and not much standing water at the moment and the edges are full of self set trees, bushes and blackberries fighting it out plus some nettles over 6 foot high!

Background on my last post, had a bust up with some high ranking local council officer who was lecturing me about the benefits to nature not cutting the grass verges and I said all they’d end up with is brambles etc and lawsuits from people scratching their toddlers on the way to school and paying even more money to the snouts in the trough to figure out how to resolve the problem or he could pay me nothing and I’d tell them to plant trees on the squillions of acres they own sitting idle and he said we call them hectares….i rest my case!

They should employ the people trying to make a living poaching/chopping the trees to plant more….a fraction of the billions wasted on pointless new technology, public sector wasters and their inability to run a market stall let alone a local authority or government, I could go on, bottom line plant trees all over the world sorts the problem…imo lol

Hi Troj, as long as you can still get around it’s good, got a couple of friends who need help with just about everything we all take for granted….must be our advancing ages!

Your ponds sound like they’re flourishing mate, haven’t seen water boatmen for a long time.

Took some friends up there this week for apple picking etc and think they enjoyed the basic nature of things after I explained I don’t want solar panels,battery storage,electricity etc….a hot water bottle in the bed in the old van and a small power pack to charge the phone is my limit!

House all done except for the wood burner we’re doing in a few weeks and getting someone in so it’s all regged up for insurance and future resale(unlike what I built up at the farm which definately wouldn’t pass muster lol).

Foxes okay unless you’ve got poultry of course!

Not massively bothered about aggregate prices as I’ve stockpiled ballast, sand,cement not so much admittedly. Good not something I put any value on, I’d rather have a big stack of solid pallets than a good bar!

I must admit I only rarely look at the news except dividend timetables on here these days. I’m guessing at some point the SP relating to the values of the underlining holdings will both improve and then as/when we’re closer to my average I might look a bit closer.

Bits and pieces my end on shares, mostly divi management and the odd moment of why did I do that!

Wildlife doing well Troj, drier up at the land than Zummerset but the main pond flourishing more like a big boggy area currently and squirrels moving nuts around, foxes chasing rabbits and the red kites and hawks having a good feed up the chain.

Quite a lot of badger activity too, holes dug for them to do their business all over the place , a few D shaped holes into some banks but still haven’t seen one, got some wildlife cameras but you know me and technology and happy to let it all do its thing rather than bothering them apart from a bit of mowing and cutting back management.

Cracking year for apples, pears and plums short lived and cobnuts,berries,chestnuts in their varying stages.

Had a few wasps nests so all the ne s about wasps disappearing doesn’t apply at my place plus being wary of hornets for obvious reasons!

Uncertainty on return of the dividend is a killer, big dilemma is what point to add because once it’s priced in the SP will be much higher imo.

Broker downgrade, uncertainty with the FCA ruling, ex div currently with the next a maybe maybe next year so just looks like drift down to me.

On my big list of ‘things to average down on at some point’ but from what price point I’m not really sure tbh. GLA

Buying back and selling at a profit never a bad thing and puts a bit more into the pot for us lot!!

Dm, my averages are around the same as a longtermer ignoring the dividends received and to answer your concerns my advice is to not over-think all the posturing from China etc because they’ve always been more of a slow burner and certainly more measured on their territorial ambitions imo. They could have easily grabbed Hong Kong from us before the lease ran out for example but played the patient long game because when it comes down to it they might be autocratic in nature but their strange mix of communism and capitalism would suggest they don’t want to ‘do a Putin’ and go further than posturing because that’ll cost them too much and they give the impression of wanting to be friends with everyone(sneaky but not alone in that!) not to mention they along with the recent addition of India holdings gives us exposure to the two most populous nations on the planet.

The recent dividend raise looks to me also to be quite measured and as LTI points out, the SP will rise/fall along with the underlying value of the holdings.

My only curiousity is why they’ve gone from a brief period of buybacks to issuing more shares but I don’t share the anxieties of how the dividend is financed due to their good history on this.

Don’t blame you mate, moved house several times over the last four years and always best to prioritise things otherwise the list gets too long,focus on what’s most important .

RDP, there’s still the 1.2p div in the pipeline payable outside of the raising on the 12th of July to factor in and I’ve confirmed that with the compan. Every little helps.

Hi Broomtree, my thoughts on this are firstly that not taking up the OO means no chance whereas taking it up,more chance of recovery of capital for anyone unlucky enough to have held for years, which I reckon is consensus.

Regarding the consolidation I think a higher price makes it ‘seem more investable’ going forwards and I remember segro did it years ago but as ever no one knows what the future holds.

Some recover and flourish,some languish(like hammerson) and a few fall by the wayside.

As long as there’s a yield, which it appears there is,I’m grudgingly taking up the offer with mine unless the SP totally collapses before the middle of the month! GLA

And strimming too I bet mate!
