Mark I normally enjoy your well researched posts, and find many of the very informative so I do thank you for that., however, may I point out to you with great respect that we are privileged to be able to invest considerable amounts of money on the stockmarket compared to countless old, poor, and homeless people in our society, who perhaps for reasons not of their own making have to face the daily harsh reality of heating the house or feeding the kids. Its not something to joke about.

Sharefall, you are correct in my opinion. I believe they turned their prayer mats toward Greta to assuage the sensitivities of perceived public opinion all too quickly and now opec will struggle to produce extra oil to clamp down on the price.

Theaky, I have made this point several times on this forum., oil price is only one part of the equation I know but when they made the decision they were assuming oil at 50 -55 $ whereas in reality we have seen oil price sustained in excess of 80$ so there must be a question to be answered by bp. I can fully understand why some of the posters get so emotional here, after all it is our hard earned cash that's at stake but surely we can all behave like adults and express our views in a manner that isn't insulting or rude. Yes, I'm very relaxed holding bp now, and have a good feeling for this stock moving forward.

Gary, There appears to be considerable resistance each time we approach the 400 mark for some reason. It will be interesting to see how this plays out at 14.30 when the real business of the day begins.

Stuartv, you make a very valid point., Underinvestment will be our friend in the long run. Opec are already finding it problematic producing any additional oil already, so looking forward the situation will worsen and oil will become far more expensive than we ever imagined.

Your figures appear to be accurate within the narrow parameters you set, however, if like many invested here who bought at share prices near or above £5 then the picture looks a great deal different unfortunately.

That begs the question., Where would the share price be now if they had not spent billions on buybacks to date?? Is it reasonable to assume that it would be much lower that at present. Its a bit of a conundrum to me to be honest.

Hi Happy, I not read many of your informative posts on this board lately, so good to see you back., I've said many times here that in my humble opinion the primary driving force keeping the share price of bp subdued is the slashing of the dividend, and although we may see some ground regained, I seriously doubt that we will see £5 again unless there is a significant uplift in the dividend and I'm not talking about the miniscule increase we've seen to date. As always I'm expressing my own opinion only and respect others who will have a contrary view.

Interesting comment from WHO advising that if 70% of people in every country got vaccinated we would be rid of this wretched thing by mid 2022, now that would be wonderful.
The best present we can give to ourselves and all our loved ones this Christmas is get vaccinated.

Josh , Its difficult to predict just now, but I agree is we have to have another lockdown the share price will drop considerably. Perhaps instead of another lockdown the government should make it a legal requirement for everyone to be vaccinated as that would ease the exposure of our NHS angels and reduce the number of people off sick generally in my humble opinion. I wish everyone including the unvaccinated a Happy and safe Christmas

Licker., Trying to ease your anxieties I would comment as follows:-
Raised interest rates: If indeed this happens it will only be by a small margin and shouldn't impact hugely on oil, and in any event Opec has the tools at its disposal to mitigate if needs be.
Ukrain: This appears to be a game of brinkmanship between Europe and Russia. Mr Putin wants his gas line Nordstream up and running but Germans are kicking up a bit of a fuss. I do agree that if USA and Europe apply sanctions then in could impact on BP because of our stake in Rosneft, which could theoretically be affected.
Omicron: Simple answer is for everyone to get vaccinated
Iran: This is probably more to do with nuclear capability than oil, however and disruption to Iran oil production would be more of a worry for China than Europe as they rely hugely of Iran for their oil despite the existing sanctions that are in place.
China demand: If you are referring to their insatiable demand for oil then any disruption from Iran will impact oil price in a positive way not negative.
Opec output: I strongly believe Opec+ have a vested interest in keeping oil price between 80 and 100$ and they have the ability to take appropriate measures to ensure that happens.
All in my humble view only.

Jamtart 1., My Grand Daughter is a frontline Pharmacist so I can fully relate to your post. BP is holding up fairly well so far this morning considering, and oil price fairly resilient around 75$. Whilst I totally respect everyone's right of choice in these matters, I cannot for the life of me understand why so many are unwilling to be vaccinated when it is clear that this offers a good level of protection not only to ourselves as individuals, but also to our families and the public at large, and in particular those are immunosuppressed and unable to produce antibodies who unfortunately get little or no protection from being vaccinated. We have a moral obligation to help these people.
