The actual amount invested is not what matters, its the number of shares you hold x 4p (roughly) = dividend you will receive

Hi 808., You can have your dividends paid in cash. (Amount payable depends on exchange rate of $ to £ and its calculated based on rates over 4 trading days prior to div announcement) Alternatively, if you wish you can opt to receive additional shares instead of cash (DRIP) Good luck

Thanks Smithy, I have wondered about that and raised this point some time ago in a post when BP wrote down asset value in Q3 due to 'oil in the ground' being 30/40 $., I thought there would have been a reversal in full year accounts as oil now is nearing $60, so you could be right about reversal.

I think Replacement Cost (RC) liabilities are offset against written down asset values for tax purposes. Best I can do as now an accountant lol.

Q4 would appear to indicate deepening losses at $5.7Bn, however they have explained that was due to the increased barrel price impact not filtering through until Q1, so we should reasonable expect to see much better profit at end of Q1 assuming oil price is sustained at or about current levels.

Wall Street had a good day yesterday, but we didn't follow suit. I did think we might see a bit of momentum following the inauguration, however, whilst I don't think Biden is necessarily a friend to oil, there isn't much he can do about existing leases, so a lot will be soundbites. I do however agree wholeheartedly that we should leave the artic alone, and allow the magnificent wildlife to live in peace, after all ex kings and dentists have decimated wildlife everywhere else.
