Congratulations to BP for taking this important decision which will send very worrying signals to the pariah Puten.
Hopefully, not we will see the end of the vitriolic posts on this board and a return to comparative harmony.

Flummoxed, Putin is a pathetic figure he invades Ukraine with tanks, aircraft missiles and bombs, but he takes exception to verbal aggression from nato leaders. That constitus a reason to put nuclear arms on alert. Putin is now a very worried individual and I wouldn't want to be in his shoes when this aggression ends

State 40%
BP 20%
Qatar 18.5%
Public Joint Stock Company 10.4%
Additionally there are far too many to list with holdings less than 1%

Its also worth remembering that the Rosneft board has German,(Schroder) American, (Dudley) and Irish (Looney)
Directors.
If BP are forced to divest then I can well see someone like Qatari investment fund taking a keen interest.

1msn., I would be most surprised if Moscow didn't introduce sanctions., its simply "tit for tat" just like when we stopped Aeroflot entering our airspace they stopped British airways etc etc., however to suggest a drop in share price to sub 2.50 tomorrow is completely irresponsible

Stockready, I do agree with you, it could also be that he has decided to join the latter day Gretta club who are blinded by the false doctrine that we can survive on the planet if all oil and gas was switched off tomorrow. Sometimes prople just need to get real and try to understand that we need these and will continue to need them for many many years to come. Someone posted on here the other day that it would take UK 5 years to be weaned off Russian oil and Gas. These are facts and to some maybe unpopular, but reality nonetheless

Tinker, How can it be legal to force a private company to divest any of its its investments. Just because a stuffed shirt gets up from semi permanent sedentary position in the house of commons to have his 5 seconds of glory doesn't mean it is going to happen. We put these wasters in office to represent us and they should be looking after British interests.

All early birds this morning. Goid post Mark, it will be interesting to see what sanctions Putin will impose on western companies in retaliation. So far so good for BP and I fully expect to see improvement in the share price hopefully before close of play today

Clearly many of us believed Putin when he gave assurances to world leaders that Russia would not attack Ukraine. Todays developments have shown that this person is a contemptible liar and has no respect for human life. It will undoubtedly take a day or so for matters to settle down and then if there remains a threat to our holding in Rosneft the very least we should expect is a statement from our CEO Mr Looney, who for the recorded I have great respect for. Tough days for unfortunate people of Ukraine. As for the movements in the share price, its only to be expected that there will be considerable volatility for a while, and yes perhaps more so at 14.30pm.
I readily understand why people may choose to sell out and wait for clarity to return, which it will. Personally, I plan to sit back and ignore all the ramping/derailing. If you don't have to sell why bother
