I can fully understand with the unhappy sentiment of most of this mornings posts on the board. It has been a dismal performance of the BP share price of late, despite record levels of oil price etc, however, I do not think now is the right time to sell because we have been through the really tough patch, and oil will still be massively in demand long after this war is ended. I do hope that the news of potential for peace agreement within days from both sides is for real and for the sake of the Ukraine people I hope it happens this week.
As for feeding Putin to the pigs, well I have total empathy with that post, the interesting thought though is just where can Putin hide when this is over, he is already a pariah in virtually the entire civilized world. He will be vilified where ever he goes for the rest of his time on earth, which I wouldn't gamble on being very long. Lets hope for good news tomorrow when BP announce our dividend in £

According to Bernard Looney there is no news yet about the disposal of the Rosneft stake, other than to confirm intent to sell and the process has commenced internally, whatever that means I unsure. I tend to agree with you both that it is the right decision to hold for now and see how things develop. I'm totally perplexed to understand what the negative forces are around the sp lately. I've always been firmly of the opinion that slashing the dividend was the main issue but i'm no longer convinced if i'm being totally honest. Having said that, it seems that no matter how the oil price goes (which means increased revenue into BP coffers) the share price stagnates of drops. Perhaps they will update us more around the 15th with the dividend announcement date

Hi Terraplane., Thanks for your post. I'm not invested in Evraz so no personal downside, but I've been heavily invested in BP for 10 years and the performance of the share price at the moment is woefully poor. We have spent billions in buybacks propping this up and yet little or nothing to show other than fewer shares in circulation (which we've paid for). God alone knows where this would be if the buybacks had not taken place at all., (assuming one accepts the argument that this has saved the sp from plummeting)., But why is it performing so badly while the company is making massive amounts of money and huge profit margins. several fellow posters here refuse to accept that the 50% reduction in the dividend is not to blame, and I respect their view although I do not agree on that point. I can see the uncertainty that prevails in respect of Rosneft and hopefully we will have clarification soon about the disposal of that asset, perhaps to China. who knows perhaps when that is cleared up we may get back into positive mode. dicklaw, your claim to the moral high-ground would've been more sustainable had you come back and simply said 'sorry guys', and that would have been more than satisfactory for me, however, your second post has simply compounded your foolishness.

Grandadtom., very interesting theory, but i'm not sure about £5 +, don't forget were hauling $30BN in debt, and also another say $10BN outstanding debt on GOM settlements. It would be very tempting though

Its good to see oil returning to sensible price levels, anywhere around $80 would be ideal, but BP must be earning well with the current spike.
Sadly you are correct in that BP stock performance is abysmal compared to the big oil companies, and I don't think we will see a huge improvement for a while, unless of course Bernard decides to do the right thing with the dividend

Chandley, A similar pattern seems to have developed over the past few days where we open in very positive territory only to drop back in early trading, and then uplifting again towards late trading. Looks like its being played.

I havn't set an exit date for my holding here, but we have a way to go before the sp reaches the level I paid for them.
Aviduser is right on the money, these are the real forces that move the FTSE, lets just hope as BP's colours become greener the big investment funds return

I remain convinced that the dividend is the key to getting the share price back into 450+

As things stand BP want it both ways and we are not being treated fairly. Mr Looney please recognise that this must not be allowed to continue

Meoryou/Bigbadbaz., The last thing I would want to see would be ordinary workers incomes depleted in any way, however, with senior executives, who are already receiving extremely large salaries, they should not be rewarded with huge share allocations and massive bonuses when shareholders are not getting a fair return on their investment

Meoryou., Yes I think you are correct, however, my point is that the BOD's stated position is that as long as oil remains at $60 they can maintain their A1 credit rating, 4% annual dividend uplift and capex through to 2025. Oil price is more than double the price they based all the above criteria on, and therefore they should be capable of not only keeping all the above and fund green investments, but also reward the shareholders properly. If they don't do that they should suspend massive directors bonuses and free share issue to employees that we are paying for.

Meoryou, the market is certainly not rewarding BP latest financials, and frankly BP is not rewarding its investors properly either
