Hi Peter., Given that the Div is paid in us dollars converted into £, therefore a strong dollar is good news for uk shareholders as it buys more sterling. The critical days for the dollar div rate to be set are the average over 5 working days immediately prior to the announcement date by BP. When Russia started the war the dollar was strong at $1.36/£., however, by the time we got to the qualifying days unfortunately the rate had dropped by 6 cents. That's what I was referring to when I said we lost out marginally, albeit slightly better than last quarter.

The one thing you said in your post that I absolutely agree with is the fact that you do not believe anything posted here could influence the sp of BP, I wholeheartedly agree with that, however, my point was that it could influence an inexperienced investor not the share price.
I welcome every opinion (good or bad) when presented fairly, that's what this board is for. I see you are fairly new to BP board and I wish you well with your holding

Hi Slater. I have some sympathy with your remarks, however I would simply say this.
1. If him remuneration package is geared to profit then that's fine with me
2. We do not know yet why the buyback scheme has been paused
3. We do not know yet how the divesting of Rosneft will play out
4. With regard to dividend payments, I am in agreement, and have long argued that the dividend should be tied to each
quarter profit, and certainly not the way it is structured now.

Meoryou, Thank you for your post., You are entirely correct, the point I was hoping to make with respect to everyone is quite simple really, and that is we should just pause and consider what impact our post/remarks may have on another possibly unsavvy investor. We all work very hard for our money and therefore we should at least respect that we are all in BP for a single reason which is to get a return on our capital. Many of the negative posts are I'm sure from disgruntled people who may not even be invested here now for whatever reason, perhaps hoping for a dramatic drop so they can get back in at basement price. Who knows??? I do not intend to cause offence to anyone but some of the posts on here are very unhelpful (being charitable) however there are many who clearly are seasoned investors who do their homework diligently and contribute enormously for which I am most grateful.

Thanks for your post., I agree with your comments entirely, however I am concerned for inexperienced investors who may be swayed by some of the negativity that has crept in here lately, and divest their holdings at a loss. We need to be mindful of the potential impact careless remarks can have. For the record I have no intention of divesting in BP

Theaky, As BP is one of UK's 'blue chip' companies, I doubt if UK Plc would ever allow that, but in theory I agree with the sentiment

MKumar, You have mentioned the positives and negatives, and you are correct, in my opinion the negatives are still determining the fate of our stock. I wish there was more clarity about the Rosneft situation and then we would have all the facts, both good and bad, from which to move onward and upward. Have a good day

I do think that 370 should be do-able today, we certainly started off with a nice upward movement, but not sustained unfortunately due to divesting I imagine. Yes 14.30pm should see things improve. Have a good day

Not wishing to take sides in this little airing of opinions, however, it does seem perfectly reasonable to me to have had a strong bullish view a couple of weeks back, and be more bearish now, due to the war in Ukraine which has left some unanswered conundrums as far as our company is concerned. (Hopefully we wont start another in here lol)

Morning All.,
Its sad to see the sombre temperament on the board over the past few days, which is as always in tandem with the decline of the share price. What is unsettling us currently is our lack of understanding of the cause, and it would be really helpful if the CEO of our company took a little time and made the effort to talk to us private investors for a change and clarify the stumbling block that is Rosneft. Mr Looney, if you could please have a little respect for us as well as the institutional investors this would be a much happier place.

Affmaead, unfortunately for us uk shareholders the dollar to the pound has weakened by about 6 cents over the past week and now I believe stands at $1.30

Mark., I wish I had the answers, all I know is that I'm currently sitting on a very serious paper loss at this price. The impact of Rosneft isn't really clear to me at any rate, and I'm anxiously awaiting sight of next results or earlier clarification by BOD on how the have valued the loss. As things stand it's like Damocles sword over our heads. Until this point in time I was firmly of the view that the slashing of the dividend by 50% which lead to the departure of major investor funds, was responsible, but this uncertainty needs to be sorted out quickly by our CEO.
