Barclays have been longterm proponents of this stock at £7 although I don't really understand what lies behind that projection or indeed why Berenberg have projected the same level this morning. Yes, it would be most welcome indeed, but very unrealistic at this time. Who knows what the future holds. Best of luck

Morning Spights, lol owning pb shares is like riding a roller-coaster, never dull.

Spights/Zac, Its difficult to see how we could achieve, £7 in the near to mid term, and any talk of this level is ambitious to say the least, we are struggling to hold north of £4.70 at present, and I do think that £5 is a realistic short term goal

Meoryou, you are correct inasmuch as the previous administration took the view that maintaining the dividend was sacrosanct, whereas the new ceo has pinned it clearly to oil price and affordability which is more sensible

Meoryou, India and China will never cooperate with UK and eu on sanctions against Russia. They are both happy to hold out the begging bowl for millions if pounds every month in bilateral aid. Why does this farce continue when we need to help our own people, especially when they refuse to work with us on such vital issues like bringing all possible pressure on Russia to cease its aggression against Ukraine. Something is very wrong here !!!!

Retirement, I get your cynicism and I've never been a strong proponent of buy backs, however, I do see od late that the process is propping up the share price, which I suppose is a positive, especially if you wish to divest. Hand on heart I would now prefer to se a more concentrated effort to increase the dividend to its pre-pandemic level.

Entirely agree Meoryou., I always thought Ken Clarke would've made an excellent PM., but today's bunch of all sides of the house are absolutely useless.

Retirement speaking as a Conservative voters I wonder what the outcome would be if a snap election was called today. If Liz Truss becomes PM then we're in for a bumpy ride in my humble opinion., already she has insulted Mr Macron, done yet another U turn on tax reduction to assist the poorest through this horrible energy crisis. We can expect much more of the same from this lightweight if she is elected. She does more U turns than my Wife's satnav. What am I not seeing in her that the membership seemingly can see ?? I think she will de an unmitigated disaster for this country.

Enso., investing is a very emotive thing, mainly because its out "hard earned" that's at stake. You are correct and it's a fact that the level of excited and positive posts increases with evert uplift of the share price. I'm not sure anyone is denouncing £7 it's more that they do not see that as a realistic short term likelihood, irrespective of how much we may wish it could happen. BP is a very sound and well diversified business, and long term I'm certain that goal is achievable.

Nomad, as much as I would love to see £7 sadly I think its a tad unrealistic. Barclays are always very bullish about this stock, but in the shirt to medium term I don't think its very likely, as for longterm well who knows.

ADR closed 84 cents up yesterday on nyse, We dropped like a stone after closing to relinquish all the days gains unfortunately. Oil now virtually back at 100$ so hopefully today will be positive, if only we don't get played and give it all up after closing. Have a good day
