Hi Meoryou, if by some miracle we were able to realise fair value for our Rosneft stake then that would be very welcome news indeed, but realistically there's not much prospect of that certainly in the medium term. Who knows what will happen when the war finally ends. I just wish it would end quickly to avoid all the unnecessary suffering.

Arguably yes, however there are lots of headwinds currently, not least the distinct possibility of lending rates hitting 5 %, and if that wasn't bad enough we still have ukraine war to contend with which is very unpredictable currently especially with the fake elections and nuclear threat. Not to mention the leadership change in Italy which is a big concern also. Thankfully oil seems to be holding up OK around $85 so bp capex and dividend look secure for now.

Jwd, your own guess is just as good as any other. Personally, if we achieved £5 and sustained that level I wouldn't be too unhappy.

Chandley, The current crisis is a massive gift to Starmer. He would love to see UK plc to fail so he can get the keys to number 10. He doesn't have a single original proposal to make to help the situation, and as long as he can keep on thrashing the government and bp he will get brownie points from certain elements of society. Unfortunately, our new pm and chancellor have made it easy for him to gloat

Daytradenovice, I would be more anxious about italy now with their new leader in three way coalition which includes Betlusconi, who is on record for praising Putin for invading Ukraine. If there's going to be a weak link this is most likely where it will happen.

Thank you Spights oil is holding up well atm so hopefully we will have a better day ahead. The threat of huge increase in mortgage rates is a huge worry for countless homeowners up and down the country, not least first time buyers who it would appear will have the advantage of raised stamp duty threshold taken from them be massive hike in lending rate. What a mess...

Thanks zac, assuming therefore that the total number if shares is 18.8bn and we buyback 12% annual roughly, then is it not logical that the share price by end of 2023 should be around 15% higher than it is currently, or am I talking complete nonsense?
