That scenario is some time away yet Meoryou, but at the rate we're investing is carbon free initiatives bp should be cesuring a rosy future. As for the world our grandchildren will inherit,cim less optimistic, what with warmongering despots creating unnecessary instability around the globe, our political systems seemingly totally fragmented with infighting, frankly I'm disillusioned to be honest.
Is it too much to ask that we all try to live in peace ??
I know I won't see that in my lifetime, and I hope there's a world left for our grandchildren what with the ever present threat from nuclear bombs in the hands of lunatics.

Sekforde, BP will not be debt free by the end of 2023 unfortunately because of the gulf of mexico debt which will not be cleared until 2030 at the earliest based on the current annual payment schedule. This debt is not included in the 23bn

King Joe, The buyback programme as far as I'm aware is intended to continue as long as the oil price holds so that the profitability is achieved to continue buying. The amount in terms of value set aside for the programme is decided and confirmed with each quarters results.

I'm definitely going to continue to hold. I remember that period very well and hopefully that's all in the past. I tend to agree with you about the profitability of our green operations, and ideally would like to see Bernard expand more on profit expectations for our green energy investments.

Neil, welcome on board. As Meoryou has said you will find many opinions here, but remember that's all they are just opinions, and your own is as good as everyone else's. I'm in a similar situation having bought in at £4.81. Realistically I don't see this share getting past 4.70/4.80 near term. As it has been said the oil price will be pivotal, however I am of the view that oil will remain north of $80 for the rest of this year, and that will generate very good profits and ensure our dividend. I wish you well with your holding.

Clued, extremely lucky I would think. As for full years results, it rather depends on how the loss of rosneft will be treated also as far as the gom debt is concerned I believe they only include a billion annually on the books albeit the total amount of the debt is somewhere in the region of $12bn. I expect its more tax advantageous treating it that way. Nonetheless, starting off every new year's day with a billion dollar defect is challenging
