Hi Jezzo, I actually disagree that we would be facing WW3., If Ukraine was part of NATO Putin would not have attacked, because he knows that NATO members will come to the aid of all members and Russia is no match for that. Sorry and sad day for Ukraine and I wish them well

The only borderline negative think in what is otherwise a very positive analysis in the the Fitch article is the transitional uncertainty, and I remain convinced that the major investments BP have made will more than compensate for depleted oil production in the long term. Oil will be a driver in this world long after my departure to new pastures. Thanks for the post

Caitlen, I'm always interested in hearing an alternative view when it's balanced and fair. In your case I'm surprised to see that most of your posts are negative about bp which is curious and one can only wonder at your motive. Are you seriously expecting investors to be influenced by what you post and sell out., oh wait that's what you did isn't it so you are no longer a shareholder so nobody cares what you write.

Hi Happy, reading between the lines the 'proxies' have got out of control of the paymasters and that has clearly angered Mr Putin. It will be very interesting to see how it all plays out. For now I cant really see a huge downside for BP/Rosneft

Nothing much has changed really if you consider that these breakaway areas of Eastern Ukraine have been controlled and supported financially for several years by Russia. There has been a great loss of life during this period, more than 14000 I believe, so if by sending troops into eastern Ukraine there will be a ceasefire between the factions and return to peace, surely that's a good thing. Ukraine had already lost these areas to Russian control.

Interestingly all European countries sent their leaders to meet Putin, Boris chose to send "Air Miles" Truss, and just look how that turned out.
The Paone Macron if desperate for his moment in the spotlight, but clearly no friend of UK., however I suppose we should be grateful for small mercies if he manages to pull off a summit meeting with Biden/Putin and Germany, it just might resolve the situation. What will Boris do then when all the attention of the media returns to partygate, lets face it this crisis has been a good-sent to him and probably saved his bacon

Putin has repeatedly stated that the military exercises will come to an end today 20th, and then he will order troops back to barracks. We have to wait for 24 hours to see if he is a man of his word. If he fails to keep that promise then he will become a pariah to the western world and his dubious reputation shattered. For the sake of the Ukrainian people I hope he will keep his promise.

The sad fact is that those who declare was to easily are never to bee seen on the battlefield when the bullets and bombs start to fly. You didn't see Blair or Bush leading their men in Iraq, unlike the Chieftans of old who lead from the front, and that's why in todays world despots declare war knowing they will be tucked away in their bullet proofed limousines and the poor unfortunate people who have no say in the matter will be facing the onslaught

Enso/Happy, the posts you have recently made demonstrate some sensible and well grounded logic, unlike much of the media who relish in misinformation and distorted facts to sensationalise the subjectmatter at the expense of accuracy. There is still a good chance that dialogue will triumph over aggression, and I sincerely hope that will be the outcome here

Caitlin, You have every right to your dream, however, I would be very surprised if the boards of Rosneft and BP are not formulating plans in the unlikely event or war with Ukraine. Igor Sechin CEO of Rosneft and Bob Dudley (American) ex head of BP and now sitting on Rosneft board, are close pals.
