Simple answer is when the cash runs out. Judging by the current income I would guess not long. Bear in mind it was confirmed in the Arden report there are circa 77staff. The lowest person on the payroll based on minimum wage would cost arounc £2k per month. Multiplied by 77 that's £144k per month, we know many will earn well in excess of minimum wage.
As cash burn and cash in the bank is a relative unknown though we are just guessing. The certainty us however there's more chance that it will happen rather than not.
Question for yourself though LTI. Would the current business model and returns make for a successful business case for a bank loan?

Yes that's fine if you have regular and significant income. If they are likely to spend 2.5 m annually in R and D (and from the report they seem to need that to keep pace with their competitors.)
The point I was trying to to make was that they need to spend around 10% annually on R and D to keep pace. Things move fast with technology so on the basis they only keep spending 10% that's an income of £25m required annually to keep pace.
I know some may suggesti I am knocking CC , that's not the case I'm just being realistic. Its only my opinion and anyone should DYOR and make their own decisions. It was interesting to note one of the risks ARDEN saw was that some of the bigger players may heavily subsidise their offering in the early stages.

To me it just means there will be ongoing R and D spend. They also suggest that without R and D spend products would soon become obsolete.

The way security moves with software this spend will be swallowed up with that I would guess let alone any new product development. Nothing clearly stating they are GCHQ approved so unsure why that is either. Has there actually been any formal confirmation around this?
As an aside a large company I did a lot of work with once told me they spend around 10-15% of turnover in R and D. Granted they were in a fast moving industry with lots of competitors but that's the reality of keeping pace.

Good morning Tony. Still positive I see. Based on Arden who have more access to relevant information than most ,my view is they have produced the report to cause as little collateral damage as possible. As I suggested yesterday read the small print caveat at the end.
Additionally they clearly say that unless CC contiuue to invest in R and D their products will soon become obsolete. That kicks your theory about little or no further R and D spending into rich then. The report tells you everything you need to know about where CC are. AIMO.

About to change soon. Not in a bad area and working ok. I know from experience that self healing wireless mesh networks were being used for intruder systems as far back as 15 years ago albeit range of about 30 m between devices, this has if course now vastly improved. There is also wireless kit available to transmit CCTV data signals over long distances, 3 years ago I was involved fitting these and sending signals over 1\2 mile easily, just need to connect to a WAN point the other end. On that basis anyone within a reasonable distance to a Wan could connect.
Not sure how much if the UK geographically cannot get a mobile signal but doubt it's very much if there are any residences nearby. I'm on BT mobile and cannot recall not being able to gets signal.

Read the project and risks document in full. Smets 1 was never going to work with smets2 without some sort of upgrade solution which is being worked on. My worry is with all these meters going in we've not got any not spots to date.
