Recently someone, somewhere mentioned either an interest or wishful thinking (I`m not sure which it was) about takeover of ITM by RR. Not sure if this was based on factual information / articles , but I`d be interested to know more about this if the author is active here.

Okay. lets talk numbers. I set all my ITM shares to sell at £12.50 (just a high number I chose at random.. that would be nice ). The max period I was allowed was 90 days which is when I will repeat. I can`t see how anyone can get hold of my shares at anything below £12.50.

I believe this election removes my shares from the brokers "lending portfolio".

I think I would have had a melt down if I`d ever discovered that my broker had allocated or actually lent out my shares to a shorter .....awful thought .. I`m sure you agree. There is no harm in all here doing the same... it only takes a minute....

Sorry.. just noticed another upward blip. Has anyone one else also just placed a high sell limit and locked up their shares by any chance ..?

Ooooh.. was that little upward blip in the SP result of my decision to lock up my shares ? Wishful thinking.. I know.

"Eastwood".. Yes I`m aware of that.. but feel a bit more comfortable that at least my minute amount won`t be lent out for shorting.

I have actually placed the sell limit on all my other shares too... I just feel the idea of shorting can cause damage and don`t want my

shares to play any part in it.

As per previous discussions, I have just placed ALL my shares on a limit to sell at an arbitrary high value. This would hopefully lock my shares and prevent them being offered by brokers for shorting.

I would urge all other LTH to do the same.

From what I understand if our shares are not Locked away by making an election via our broker, they are available to be lent for shorting. !!

I would like to suggest a TEST as follows to determine the effect of locking our shares to deprive shorters as follows:

a/. On a certain date and time we all set all our shares on a sell limit (say £8).

b/. Those able to do so can then monitor the ITM share price at and around that time and perhaps into the next day to determine the effect of our test

on the share price.

c/. It will of course be very difficult to determine the quantity of shares involved but if all here are informed and given enough notice, its possible that the

the quantity could run into the millions.

d/. My only concern would be if this would be classed as market manipulation or illegal.

Please respond with your views / thoughts on this TEST and any disadvantages since our TEST will be transparent.

If all are in agreement I / we can nominate one of us to set the date & time and inform all here and perhaps on other sites.

Lucky and others: Many thanks for the detailed educational reply. I had suspected this many years ago and there were hints on another chat room that this may be the case. So the summarize:

A/. Is it possible that most private investors (like us) who have purchased shares are unaware that our broker may have lent our shares to a shorter ?

B/. If so, in addition to the procedure you have described below, I think there may be another method of halting the lending out of our shares.

This is an IMPORTANT subject to discuss to its conclusion and we can complete it here. I`m online for the next 2 hours and if this chat section is kept clear I`m available to discuss it with you and other knowledgable people. Alternatively please state a suitable time when its quite here to discuss.(not Monday morning !!)

Lucky / MPO818 and by what method / mechanism would Linde or any other shareholder elect to make their shares available for shorting ?

Just wondering if anyone can confirm can : Where do the brokers get these huge amounts of shares from ? who`s shares are they ?

I once read that if all investors locked up their shares by placing them up for a future sale (in ITM`s case at say £5) , then it would

reduce the amount of available shares for shorting !! Not sure if this is correct.

This is a difficult subject to raise since lack of it would be HUGELY financially beneficial. !

So if I were ITM and being aware of those benefits I would step up 24 hour site security to a very HIGH level.

I know we are not in the wild west but I would advise ITM to take this seriously.

I have to be careful not to pre implicate any parties but guess most of you will know what I`m referring to.

Thanks for your replies regarding the Bid...All two of them !!

So, it seems its just us and perhaps one or two others here to discuss. Maybe all others disposed of their shares when the price went up ?

KKR stated (on 23rd June RNS) " KKT strongly encourages shareholders to take no action with regards to the Advent offer"

So, we assume they intend to make an offer. If so I`m trying to establish what that offer may be since the share price is now way above the Advent offer.

I estimate KKR `s offer (if any !!) may include a premium of 12.5% above the Advent offer as a sweetener for all shareholders which would indicate a share price of 4,233.00.

Just wondering what your views are on this since I would readily part with my shares at this price.
