In the event of a discovery, I wonder how much it may be deemed to derisk the 3B/4B prospects. There was an interesting post about how barrels were valued post Jethro/Joe success previously

The first drill was 20 days so even if aoud delayed to 9th as a result of weather or equipment/supplies whatever then it should be complete. The sidetrack is through a fault so is considered tricky to complete and may take some time.
Obviously hoping a decent discovery is the news as and when it may come. Cheers

Did Gil not email a poster here saying 2 or 3 weeks probably around the 17th/18th October? So it may well be into latter part of next week until we have news.

Think if no news by Friday then it is likely going well and I'd expect nearer to 45p by then.

The longer time goes then I'd think the more interesting it becomes. We are prob 25 days from spud.now

For Mav7 there were multiple layered plays stacked in the first target zone. Eco believed these could be drilled down to depth within the timeline indicated. 24 days from initial spud, I think had there been nothing in the first target they would have been through it more quickly. Hence, as others have suggested the longer they take hopefully the better.
If Gil stated 2-3 weeks late last week then it maybe a positive.portent but the geology can always surprise to the downside so don't want to get too carried away with confirmation bias!

Don't think it requires an RNS, they have already stated they will consider a sidetrack and that seems sufficient.

There won't be, as drilling completes in the main play it is meant to be a there and then decision. There are multiple partners to consider but if some don't wish to participate then others may be able to fund and take the share. It isn't meant to be drawn out as the drill itself is only a few days so taking a long time doubles the cost of it. The second prospect is 100m barrels plus.

Thanks for clarification, I couldn't recall if Colin had stated 20+ sidetrack or 15+ sidetrack. It wasn't 25 + sidetrack but imagine ops RNS perhaps was not spud one and hence the timing. Thanks for clarification
Pint of lager will do for me rather than bubbles but watch to their own. Should begin to get interesting for them sometime bext week then I guess.

Maybe we shall hit Gils Spud price before news. I'm trying to think back to conversation with someone at Eco about timing of drill and have in my head he said 15 days give or take plus a few for side track. Hence, they must be somewhere in or near the zone now.

Looks like my guess of 25th is a goner.

It's around 20 days without sidetrack and 25 days with all being well in terms of drilling as I understand it. They are drilling to the bottom of the target to establish any oil presence then sidetracking (or not) then capping.
Given they are there and sidetrack is inexpensive (although complex as crosses a fault) and it targets 100m barrels plus when economics make 50m barrels viable for production it seems a racing certainty they will go for it.

Wallact yep close or there I think. Depends what the beginning of ops email meant. If that was getting on site and 2 days is needed to prep for spud then it may take until Wednesday. They then need to drill through the multiple layers of potential traps/seals for the first target which would be a few days (say 25th/26th) then it would be time to decide on sidetrack.
For my money sidetrack should be and will be done. We are all paying price possibly for Tullow not drilling deeper on Jethro so while on site for an extra $2-3m it would be mad not to have a peek for 100m barrels plus

No I think they will know everything on Gazania by that point and perhaps even in the farm out stakes for Namibia and/or 3b-4b.

For Gazania, I see them hitting the target pay zone some time this week but the desire is to drill the full depth to discover extent of any resource in the trap, which may take into the week after probably around 25th and then take the side track so another 5 days. News depends on awaiting side track outcome but if oil flows then they may announce initial results.

I think the announcement of a breakfast yesterday was not determined by excitement from drill results and it was this I was referring to. Good luck for your holdings.

After 11 days that would be a very optimistic reading. The timing was always likely to be nearer Xmas given drill result likely early Nov and even for a duster the subsequent analysis required.

I'd say initial result before sidetrack might start to be evident next Friday but more likely sometime w/c 24th Oct with sidetrack early Nov

Remarkable that with 2 - 3 weeks to go this is 30p give or take.
Regardless of Gazania, Gil was pretty clear that there were 7 majors interested in a farm out tonthe extent NDAs are in place and they should ve selecting preferred bidder end of month to carry on 1 or 2 drills.
