The London school of Hygiene and Tropical medicine have estimated there were up to 100,000 new cases each day in UK back at the peak in late March/early April...but obv we were barely testing at this point beyond very sick people coming into hospital. Which would explain why Spain and France have now had more recorded cases in this second resurgance than they had in the spring but nowhere near as many deaths. Can't really see countries getting back to these levels of cases.

Assuming it increased 193% to get to 12 mill that would potentially mean they made about 6.2 million on Mulan?

Interesting, though it actually is lumping the 12m figure with the other consumer spending on the ap over the labour day weekend, so they actually made less then 12 million from Mulan, atleast thats how it looks to me.

That article says if wonder women gets moved another film might get put it it's slot such as A quite place part 2 might be moved forward. I'm sure a film studio would want to put something out then if there wasn't much competition in most of the cinemas outside of ny and la.

Too many movies not enough slots, need states to increase cinema capacity limits and would be great if Cuomo could give some dates for movie theatres. Looks like LA might not be open till end of Sept so can see it would sort of clash with Wonder women, but would warner brothers really complain if the LA theares and NY pretty much only showed tenet and wonder women for a few weeks?

This is true Max, any film studio who look ahead to non-covid times (which arguably isn't that far ahead when you have 3 different vaccines giving results next month, strong chance one will be effective) will see some cinema chains at an absolute bargain at these prices. Unless they believe cinema will die but I doubt many working for film studios would believe this.

spev Spains cases started rising in early July and France' at the end of July, hospitlsations and deaths went up a bit but not that much and nowhere near March/April levels, you cant keep saying "in a few weeks we'll see if a second wave", there's a 2 week lag not a 2 month lag!

That wouldn't happen unless hospitlisations significantly increase which hasn't happened in the rest of Europe anywhere near as much as in March and April...the news that actually effects cine is california having more reopenings yesterday but sentiment seems to have outweighed this.

Exactly Sprangly, there was literally articles in the weekend about how they want to reopen theatres and sports arenas with crowds, can't seem them closing down business' they've realized the cost is too great and want to end furlough. In France despite currently having 6850 cases per day at 7 day average (but low deaths) they are allowing crowds at the French open later this month, up to 2,500 people allowed in each of the 2 main courts.

They've aleady updated the site, have 30 open in Cali out of 86 there so over a third open there now. Should be able to open more every Tuesday, aswell as some of the 25% capacity ones moving to 50%. This will encourage movie studios I believe as the bulk of Cali should be ready by the end of Sept.
