I can see how the government might in this first round of mass testing settle for a number of false positives from LFT’s they have after all paid for the tests a d in practical terms the worst case is that numbers may be overstated (if PCR confirmation post + result is not sought) but hopefully all positive cases will self isolate and reduce/eliminate transmission, which is most important now. False negatives are obviously a much bigger problem. Hopefully LFT’s bought thereafter will more reliable-eg possibly Avacta /doesn’t Microgen have one in development?

The other reason for an rns (just to note) is to settle any speculation that is obviously affecting the share price - if there was a strong rumour/theory doing the rounds somewhere, whether true or not, company would need to clarify for the market. There’s certainly an awful lot of speculation going on about what is happening behind the scenes (!) but no evidence that this is driving movement in SP.

So that leaves LFT’s and PCR for Liverpool? And consensus seems to be that LFT’s are Innova (has that been confirmed or surmised by media based on previous confirmation or earlier orders?) - we know the LFT problem is false positives rather than negatives (opposite of those LAMP tests) so will positive tests be referred on for PCR confirmation?

If the order book started to exceed the realms of possibility used by SP Angel and Numis then that would likely prompt an rns...the point of the system is to try and ensure everyone has the same information about the likely value of the company. So past performance (not so relevant for Novacyt!) and the forecasts used by the brokers would be considered as information in the public domain and not incorrect or in need of more regular update than normal financial reporting calendar. Getting the 2nd stage of the DHSC contract, whilst anticipated, would also require an rns because it would shift the company more towards ‘blue sky’ and also an announcement by DHSC would no doubt be released and company would have to ensure ‘perfect information’ is in the market by also announcing through official (rns) channel.

Wilson re news, do you not think it’s a bit strange they never name the company involved with PCR though? Why would that be?

It’s getting very frustrating seeing so many other companies’ (sub standard) tests getting mentioned in the press...Innova/Abbott/Optigene...with all of the recent references to PCR and capacity, why no mention anywhere of PrimerDesign/Novacyt? One thing for sure, at some point Boris is surely going to have to clarify how much is being spent on what and how well those tests actually perform. He pretty much acknowledged this afternoon that the testing regime in the UK is to be his only redeeming feature in the handling of the pandemic - surely he can’t screw that up as well by wasting billions on crap tests!

I don’t know if Winterplex might be available in the US but I do remember reading there is a very similar multiplex test that is available there and approved by FDA (the only ‘competitor’ product I found when poking around, which is not to say there aren’t others).

Though it is ridiculous that mods can’t just remove specific posts (or all posts by one poster)...other chat rooms seem to manage it efficiently enough

Good to see from RP131’s tweets that along with testing capacity increasing in leaps over the last week or two, the time taken for results to come back appears to be lessening...look at the graph, little blue level at the bottom shows results back on day 1, orange on day 2, grey on day 3. Probably thanks to PrimerDesign?

gggg thanks for the amazing research, looks very exciting! In the interest of maybe not getting our hopes up too high, in your view, given what we now know, particularly with regard to speed and specificity of the tests (if we were to put aside all the ‘coincidental’ connections) are there any other companies/tests that you know of that could be possible contenders?

I accept that HALO might not be NCYT/Microgen but it also looks like it won’t be Innova’s, especially after that tweet from Jolyon Maugham regarding how poor the accuracy is with them. One thing for sure, someone is lining up a great rns for 7am tomorrow...

Pete - anyone reading your posts would think you have been conned into buying NCYT shares by posters on this board. Do you know what DYOR stands for? Presumably you are an adult and have made a considered decision how to invest your cash? You understand that AIM stocks are often particularly risky? You seem either all the way up if thinks look good or like chicken little when there’s a dip - I’m not sure it’s good for your stress levels. Also, you are so quick to blame people here when you think you might lose money, I really hope you are as fast with the thanks if you end up with gains.
